Conspiracy theorists
Mar 27th, 2024 at 3:29pm

if i was running the deep state  and doing a few shady things (killing JFK, or profiting from a global pandemic , profiting from renewables)

then i would get a bunch of bots to endlessly post insane conspiracy theories
9/11
fake moon landings
flouride in the water
chemtrails
baltimore bridge collpase

because it would give ALL conspiracy theories a bad name

could "the light be a bot " aimed to cry wolf so often that the real evil can slip through

yes, i believe  jfk was murdered, covid had a lot of shady cover ups and climate change is not as bad as they would have you believe, epstein had conncetions with the intelligence community

no, i dont believe any one faked the moon landings, rigged the twin towers with explosives, is attacking people with 5G or blew up a baltimore bridge, or lady di was murdered or the earth is flat

i think the conspiracy theorists are harming the cause for the real conspiracies and are probably government run affiliates and bots

is that another conspiracy ?

Down on the Border

Little River Band

[Verse 1]
I just got back from the border
And what I saw made me know for sure
We're out of order

[Verse 2]
I had a dream about New Orleans
At Jackson Square, I heard a prayer
Down to New Orleans

[Pre-Chorus]
On the run there's a life for livin'
But the people there, they just don't care

[Chorus 1]
Livin' their life like a millionaire
Down on the border

[Verse 3]
You'll never see me in old Iran
The women there don't know who I am
In old Iran

[Verse 4]
And I never will go to Singapore
The people there will cut your hair
In Singapore

[Pre-Chorus]
On their streets there's a life of plenty
But they'll never know about the freedom show

[Chorus 2]
They're livin' in darkness, years ago
Down on the border

[Instrumental - 1:35-1:48]

[Bridge 1]
They built a wall at the border
Not to keep us out, but to leave no doubt
They're out of order, hey

[Bridge 2]
And all the people who are trapped within
Serve to show just how far we'll go
And how dumb we've been

[Pre-Chorus]
At the top, life looks so easy
But they'll never know what they'll never know

[Chorus 3]
They're much too busy countin' all their dough
From the border
From the border
Down on the border
Down on the border

It's how 'nobodies' make a buck and get attention.
You'll get a better deal from an Indian pulling something from a rubbish dump.
Most of the original conspiracies in the USA were started by the CIA - in the aim of providing 'mis-information' to undermine any truth out there in the first place.

Unfortunately, facts prove that aquascoot and Laugh Cry are in it together, cornering the left-right airspace and compressing the few sane people into the middle. There these are destroyed by freediver the mindless. As a result, parliament Question time is a waste of space and is replaced by graffiti.

Let's just call him Lee.... gets out of the US MARINE corps, where he is reputed to have lauded Communism, and less than a month later is on a plane to Russia, having done a Russian language course in the Marines, learned to be a radar and communications expert, later training other Marines in this specialty ..... and later comes back declaring self to be a Marxist after spending a boring time in an electronics factory with the only bright spot being meeting the daughter of a KGB Colonel and marrying her.

He goes around trying to sell the the US people the idea that they should all become Marxists...... later buys the clunkiest weapon available in a market where you could buy any rifle.... fits it with a mis-aligned telecopic sight ... then sits up on the sixth floor of a building waiting for the US President, whose cavalcade was supposed to follow a different route, to come into his sights.

He then fires off three shots in less than seven seconds, giving scarcely enough time to cycle the clunky bolt on this relatively low-powered rifle, and never giving time to align the scope sight after the first shot, which missed completely.... manages with his second shot to hit the Prez through the back of the neck through the trees, causing the governor of Texas at the time to turn near completely around in his seat and say "What The F*ck!" before apparently being hit by the same round after it takes about a 110 degree right turn in mid-air, having slowed down long enough for the Governor to turn around etc... and then with his miraculous third shot, again with an unsighted rifle, Lee hits the Prez square in the head and blows him to hell....

Now when they took that dog hunting, he couldn't catch a tortoise.....

So let's just say that was one hell of a rifle and one hell of a lone assassin.

Who rams the bridge while the bridge rams you?

cant you see how this works

take covid for example

sensible people point out that a vaccine usually takes 10 years to produce
this one came out in 1
senseible people point out that no sector has paid bigger fines for fraud then big pharma
sensible people point out that if a drug is cheap and effective, big pharma will bury it as its bad for profit

if we run these argmenents, we get the public onside

but then, from out of nowhere, people start saying bill gates put a tracker in the vaccine

now the public say

"well these conspiracy nut jobs are CRAZY, better go get my vaccine"

my point is

tone it down, if you arent a bot

now, if i was pfizer and i wanted to sell a lot of vaccine, i would pay 100,000 fake accounts to go on about "bill gates put a tracker in the vaccine" because they can then call EVERYTHING a conspiracy theory.

Aqua ,

I realise my views , from voluminous research

conflict with your interpretation of reality .

This is ok and cool and I'm ok with that .

I do not need your permission or approval to post what I like .

And so question 1 .

Are you vaccinated ?

Here, let me fix that for you:

"I have a long record of being corrected on every issue for 10 years or so on this board"

You're welcome.  Smiley

Oh, and after 10 years I thought you may have finally gotten the hint but obviously you haven't, especially after your "grand performance" in the Bridge Down thread today.

Regards the 10 years to get clearance. That is reasonable correct under normal circumstances.

Usually any new medicine has to have funds raised for a stage 1 trial. If that trial is runs well then funds are raised for a stage 2 trial.
If that is all ok funds are raised for stage 3 trial.
The time taken is the time to raise funds. It is a high risk area.
With a pandemic growing and killing people, Govts asked the big pharma companies how much they needed to run all 3 trial consecutively.
Govts gave companies these funds and it went ahead immediately.
The World did not have 10 years to wait.
We have got through a pandemic within 5 years.
We did very well indeed.

'Sensible people' may say all sorts of stuff.
People who know much about specific fields may say otherwise.
You would not ask a mechanic about your heart palpitations.
You would not ask a janitor about your new cars service.
Ask people who know about vaccinations any questions about vaccinations.

"Beginning in the early 20th century, scientists linked high levels of naturally occurring fluoride in certain community water supplies to low levels of tooth decay. In 1945, Grand Rapids, Michigan, became the first community in the world to add fluoride to tap water. When subsequent studies showed a significantly lower rate of cavities in schoolchildren, water fluoridation spread to other towns and cities. U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention named community water fluoridation one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century.

But many experts now question the scientific basis for the intervention. In June 2015, the Cochrane Collaboration—a global independent network of researchers and health care professionals known for rigorous scientific reviews of public health policies—published an analysis of 20 key studies on water fluoridation. They found that while water fluoridation is effective at reducing tooth decay among children, “no studies that aimed to determine the effectiveness of water fluoridation for preventing caries [cavities] in adults met the review’s inclusion criteria.” *

The Cochrane report also concluded that early scientific investigations on water fluoridation (most were conducted before 1975) were deeply flawed. “We had concerns about the methods used, or the reporting of the results, in … 97 percent of the studies,” the authors noted. One problem: The early studies didn’t take into account the subsequent widespread use of fluoride-containing toothpastes and other dental fluoride supplements, which also prevent cavities. This may explain why countries that do not fluoridate their water have also seen big drops in cavity rates (see chart)."

Fluoride helps to rebuild and strengthen the tooth’s surface, or enamel. Water fluoridation prevents tooth decay by providing frequent and consistent contact with low levels of fluoride. By keeping the tooth strong and solid, fluoride stops cavities from forming and can even rebuild the tooth’s surface.

Community water fluoridation is the process of adjusting the amount of fluoride in drinking water to a level recommended for preventing tooth decay.

Although other fluoride-containing products, such as toothpaste, mouth rinses, and dietary supplements are available and contribute to the prevention and control of tooth decay, community water fluoridation has been identified as the most cost-effective method of delivering fluoride to all, reducing tooth decay by 25% in children and adults.

Conspiracy theories usually arise from a lack of information by the Government or it's agencies....Or batshit crazy nutters who make up complete bullshit about every major event....Footage of the Pentagon on 9/11 was withheld from the public, Why....People then provide answers to the why with all sorts of conspiracy theories....I do not know why but I know something is not right with some things....Those who claim to have the answer usually blame their enemies without evidence???

Extract from a timely article on this very issue:

"Understanding what drives people into conspiracist thinking has inspired a number of scientific investigations. There’s one feature of the human brain that appears to bear quite a lot of the responsibility – the problem is, it’s also something we couldn’t manage without.

The brain is primed to look for patterns. As humans have evolved, this has proven extremely useful. It’s handy, for example, to learn that the color red often equals “danger”. It's less handy to take the leap from, "Hmm, we appeared to have misplaced some ships," to, "It must be an eldritch triangle of ocean gobbling up vessels like there's no tomorrow!"

“Our brain is constantly trying to make sense of the outside world. One way the brain accomplishes this goal is by detecting and learning patterns, which are essentially statistical regularities in the environment, because these patterns help the brain decide how to react or behave in order to survive,” Dr Jess Taubert, an associate professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland, previously told IFLScience.

The issues start to arise when this pattern-recognizing power goes into overdrive, joining dots in random data and adding two and two to make five. This concept is called illusory perception.

A 2017 study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology explored this further. The scientists took groups of up to 401 people through five experiments designed to test the relationship between conspiracist thinking and illusory pattern perception.

One thing that came out of the study was a link between belief in some common conspiracies – including ones around climate change, the moon landing, and the assassination of JFK –  and seeing a pattern in a series of random coin tosses. Those inclined towards a more conspiratorial way of thinking were also more likely to find patterns in chaotic artwork, like Jackson Pollock’s splatter paintings.

The researchers also explored a common observation in conspiracy spaces, that belief in one irrational theory is often indicative of belief in other, unrelated theories. If you can accept the idea that Barack Obama is a lizard in a human suit, it’s really just a short hop and a skip to believing that the US government had advance notice of 9/11.

“[A]cceptance of a conspiracy theory implies an increase in the extent to which people perceive patterns in world events, as reflected in the belief that instead of being a coincidence, many events that happen in the world are somehow causally related,” the authors posited.

To test this, they asked participants to read either a pro-conspiracy or anti-conspiracy article, before asking questions to assess their perception of a pattern in world events, finding that a correlation was present in those who’d been exposed to the conspiracy theory.

To summarize the findings of the study, the authors wrote, “We conclude that illusory pattern perception is a central cognitive ingredient of beliefs in conspiracy theories and supernatural phenomena.”

In the wake of conspiracy theories around the COVID-19 pandemic, this research became all the more timely, and subsequent studies have built on the ideas explored here.

One from the height of the pandemic in 2020 supported the importance of illusory perception and also touched on the idea of confirmation bias.

“[Conspiracy theory] believers may find it hard to believe that a virus could originate randomly from the natural world because it does not fit with their preconceived view that events have a reason and usually a human or government influence behind it,” the authors explained.

The role of personality

Another key factor that has come to the fore in psychology studies of conspiracy beliefs is the role of personality.

Narcissism – the belief in one’s own superiority over others – has been found to be among the best psychological indicators of a predisposition toward believing in conspiracies. A 2022 study outlined three features of narcissistic personalities that seem to underpin this: agentic extraversion (which covers traits like assertiveness, self-confidence, and reward-seeking); antagonism; and neuroticism.

In a nutshell, narcissistic people will more readily believe that others are “out to get them”, meaning that conspiracies about sinister government plots or shady cabals controlling the media narrative fit right into their way of thinking.

Narcissists are also driven by a need to feel unique and special, something that research has also identified as a predictor of conspiratorial thinking.

Others may be drawn to conspiracies out of a desire to “watch the world burn” – basically, some people simply thrive on chaos.

Still, more research has suggested a link between increased anger and belief in conspiracies, though it was not possible to say whether anger was a cause or consequence of believing irrational things.

And some people may be initially drawn to conspiracies because they find them fun. I mean, there’s no denying that there’s a certain amount of entertainment to be derived from discussing the most outlandish of beliefs about our world, whether or not you actually see truth in them. You did click on this article, after all…

Further:

"What we know, and what we still don’t

A systematic review published in 2022 aimed to collect together what we know so far about conspiracy beliefs as they apply to COVID-19, with lessons that could be applicable more broadly.

Narcissism came up again, along with the three other personality traits that, with it, collectively form the so-called Dark Tetrad (Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism). Another factor that was mentioned was poorer psychological wellbeing, such as feelings of anxiety, depression, or uncertainty – something we probably all remember well from the early months of 2020.

What’s still tricky to pin down is which of the factors are causes and which are effects. Perhaps some people’s brains and personalities do make them more prone to belief in conspiracies, but it takes a particular set of external circumstances to tip them over the edge and into the rabbit hole.

The authors of the review called for more research to address these open questions, with more varied samples. Above all, understanding the drivers that push people towards conspiracy theories – and remembering that these beliefs can have real-life consequences – is vital if we want to tackle future waves of disinformation head-on."

Many people get a thrill out of a good conspiracy - even when they know the odds of it being true are heavily against it.

They likely get a dopamine hit when they perceive a pattern in their joined-dots narrative.

And, let's face it, most of us enjoy a well-crafted movie based on a conspiracy theory - once we suspend our incredulity.

You sound like a fluoride shill.

The crap they put in public water supplies is not simply "fluoride".

Fluoride is the name they affixed to it.

It is an industrial waste product called hexafluorosillic acid.

It is a contaminated industrial waste.

You should learn to read.

Topical application is the only real dental treatment.

Adding it to a community/public water supply by unqualified people is mass medication without a prescription.

I call that illegal.

It has never & never will reduce dental decay by 25% .... that's a complete lie.

71 years ago Beaconsfield in Tasmania was the first town in Australia to be fluoridated ... yet Tasmania has the highest rate of adult tooth decay in the country.

Quote:
Tasmania has the worst oral health score in the nation, while the Northern Territory has stormed the rankings from worst to best after experiencing the largest positive change over ten years.   https://www.echo.net.au/2024/01/snapshot-of-nations-dental-health/

So Peccarhead your research on the subject is flawed.

Sodium fluoride or Calcium Fluoride ?

Neither are used in the fluoridation of public water supplies.

It's Hexafluorosilicic acid powder that is used. Sourced in China from aluminium & fertilizer factories and used by unqualified people in town & city councils.

The bags are labelled with the skull & crossbones as a toxic substance ... it use to be an S6 poison... but Peccarhead should educate himself ... him being such a knowledgeable individual .... Roll Eyes

I take your point that many of the so-called conspiracy theories often
contain a tiny modicum of truth (conspiracies are sometimes real. The
Watergate break-in is a good example of a political conspiracy that
actually happened).  But in most cases, that kernel of truth is misrepresented
by the conspiracist to the point of its negation as any sort of empirical
evidence for his/her absurd claims.

Hardcore believers are adept at rationalising away evidence that
contradicts their beliefs. Eyewitnesses who dispute the conclusions
of even the biggest conspiracy theories are mistaken, according to
believers —or even a part of the conspiracy.

Thanks to the social-media algorithms that push users toward
ever-more-emotional, conspiratorial content, it's probably never
been easier for false conspiracy theories to spread today.

Aqua there is no conspiracy theory about big chemical & fertilizer Industry companies selling govts and local govts contaminated toxic waste products to put into public water supplies in the guise of dental health initiative to reduce dental caries.

It's is a fact.

The oral ingestion of fluoridated water does nothing to prevent tooth decay.

The only way fluoride is affective is when it is topically applied by a dentist with a pharmaceutical grade sodium fluoride liquid.

Which they get you to spit out and rinse and not swallow it.

The conspiracy is with the pro-fluoride lobby who are on the receiving end of backhanders that allow these companies to use public water supplies and through human beings then city sewage treatment work to dump their toxic waste ...... which they are not allowed to dump into the environment via other methods.

Fluoridation & it's purported benefits is one of the biggest scientific frauds the globe has seen.

It's mass public medication by unqualified people(Councils & their workers) without consent.

The shyte they dump into public water supplies comes from the Aluminium & Fertilizer Industries(mostly from China) which is  Hexafluorosilicic acid.

It's used in water fluoridation,   hardening cement and ceramics, as a wood preservative.

It is also contaminated with, lead, zinc, arsenic, cadmium and mercury.

You want to take fluoride ... go ahead you can buy tablets ... at least they are a pure pharmaceutical grade.

It should never be in public water supplies.

Anyone who has complained about covid vaccination mandates and drinks town/city water that is fluoridated is a complete hypocritical idiot.

Rant over.

All one has to do is look up the symbol for the toxic element.
We live in an area of a large water catchment for Melbourne water.
Hubby sees the large van with the scull/x bones logo going to this water catchment.
No doubt toxic elements on board?

I refuse to drink tap water from any catchment fluoride is put into.
Having been on rain water my whole life, I find any water with fluoride I’m unable to fathom! I can taste the fluoride! It’s yuk!
I just been to dentist for check and as I still have all my teeth (yes folks, without having to ingest fluoride or use toothpaste with it) my dentist paid me a compliment that she wouldn’t have believed I am 70.  Smiley
My now adult kids have beautiful teeth and they too were never on fluoride water.
If there’s any improvement for kids teeth why is fluoride getting the credit?
What about dietary changes? Coincidental?

Well, they just dismiss the evidence - they don't actually rationalise it away.

They are generally incapable of rational thought.

You're right, it can't be.

It's an AI fake - it never appeared in any episode of The Simpsons.

JFK?  Did you know a downhill shot is the most difficult and most shoot low?  The steeper the angle downhill the worse the shot generally...

You telling me Oswald did all that with his clunker 6.5mm Mannlicher-Carcano built to Italian standards?  For another twenty bucks he could have bought a 30-06 M-37, standard issue before the M-1 Garand... hell of a lot better rifle... or a Mauser 7.92.. (which that police chief said was stamped on the breech of the 'Oswald' rifle) ... jeez - even a Garand - with scope you could get off eight shots in seven seconds... steady, reliable ... a weapon Oswald was used to from the Marines ....

This was a team job and that Oswald dog just don't hunt...

Looks good though.... you've watched every episode?

"Right, Rajiv.... now just slip her gently through the pylons........... no... NO.... you bloody idiot ..... not THROUGH the pylon itself!  FFS... cheap labour!!"

(later down at Ye Hospital:-  (doctor to deaf nurse)... "Right nurse - just slip off his spectacles so we can do our mandatory testing on Rajiv here ....  No ... NOOO ... this isn't the transgender unit.... I said spectacles!"

Sort of ghoulish the way they were talking last night about 'people still under the water' - I doubt they were stuck in an air pocket....

I’m no engineer but… did you see the way that bridge just all caved in, like it was built out of matchsticks?  Shocked
