My grandfather wasn't at Gallipoli - he was Militia holding the home front - but they held a very low number open for him - earmarked - 2829.  Went on the Western Front, under Messines, and wounded twice, listed as unfit for full duty in early 1917, but continued to the end as a Battalion runner.

They don't make 5'8" men like that any more.
