It is rather disingenuous to compare them to  McDonalds and Hungry Jack's though. Probably a more valid comparison would be with Grill'd, which would probably be the closest both in terms of the product and with positioning in the marketplace.  Five Guys still comes out a bit more expensive though, with their most expensive burger being $21.00, whereas the most expensive ones at Grill'd are $17.90.

I had a nice beef burger at a restaurant in Glen Waverly a while back -
100 times better than any fast food place.

Contrary to what McDonald's would have you believe, this...

          ...

... is NOT a genuine hamburger bun.

These are genuine hamburger buns, the original and still the best...

          ...

McDonald's pseudo-hamburger buns are the wrong texture, with the
wrong mouthfeel, and the wrong shape and have—FFS—sesame seeds
on them!

Real Aussie buns have a "doughy" slightly "chewy" texture, are flatter,
which makes them easier to hold, and are a larger diameter in order to
hold the fillings in.

McDonald's have really done a number on today's youth in convincing
them that their fast food is as it should be—when in actuality it's all
overpriced Americanised crap.  And they're not "fries", they're fucking CHIPS!

cart before the horse there geoff.

mcdonalds dont push anything onto people
they respond to what sells best

big food companies , alpha beta test endlessly

they would be increasing sugar in 1/2 the buns and seeing if that version increased sales
they would be using all sorts of emulsifiers and synthetic ultra processed carbs in 1/2 their buns to see if that "mouth feel" increased sales.

they would be adding salt and alpha beta testing

and whichever version produced a slight increase in sales , then becomes the norm

its why they actually cant call it a bread roll and have to call it a bun
because the sugar content is outside the limits for bread

the consumer gets exactly what he tells big food he wants

big sugar big fat big salt big ultra processing
instant gratification

of course this leads to big cancer, big diabetes , big depression (yes your food directly affects your mental health)
but thats delayed consequences

to eat a cucumber and a carrot requires discipline and the delay of gratification

thats why doing it in a mcdonalds (an exericse i recommend) builds will power, and makes you feel content not being part of the mob

you can copy peoples successful strategies, but we learn just as much by seeing what failures do, and then "dont do that"

That's true Aqua - at least at Maccas -

McDonald's Secret Ingredients You Never Knew About.

The ingredient list of McDonald's foods is proof that not all calories will have the same metabolic effects in humans…

The seed oils, synthetic additives, and preservatives in these foods impact our hormones and metabolic functions negatively, making it harder for our bodies to produce energy and function properly…

This leads to constant hunger, overeating, low energy, poor hormonal health and ultimately weight gain…

Humans aren’t meant to consume these processed foods…

a lot of things which give a short term pleasure hit, were not meant to be consumed by humans

sugar, smokes, fentanyl, social media, porn, the nightly news, sleeping in,
complaining, gossiping, poo talking, affairs, the pokies and gambling
posting yawns, being outraged, calling other men rapists

generally short term pleasures drag you down and make you less attractive to the opposite sex
and they shorten your life.

now, what is mother nature / evolution selecting for?

if you are to be a good parent and a good grandparent, then you are going to have to sacrifice and think long term.

so mother nature puts all these short term pleasures out there to cull the 'weak"  and the "soft'

think about this bobby.

why dont women die at about 50 when they can no longer have kids?
in all other species , females die at about the same time fertility dies.

its because humans have recognised the value of grandmothers to help raise grandchildren ( we are the only species that does).

so mother nature is rewarding behaviours that dont give pleasure for many decades

next time you feel like a sugar, alcohol, drug, destraction, porn or gossip hit of short term pleasure, remember that the long game is about

"personal responsibility" "legacy" and "embracing things that suck"
