I have no problems with police marching in the Mardi Gras parade,
but definitely not while in uniform. People should be marching as
individuals, and not as representatives of some/any organisation.

This also raises the question: Were the participating cops in last
years' gay parade (in uniform) off-duty? If they were off-duty, how
then could they wear the uniform in public?

Conversely, if they were on duty, why were the taxpayers expected
to pay them whilst they were participating in the gay parade?

I believe that it was Victorian Police Commissioner, the repugnant
Christine Nixon in 2002, who started this whole gay police debacle
in Melbourne...
