I always think it a luxury if I can take a suitcase worth of nice clothes and personal items.

Don't go like an over-loaded Tourist of 5 suitcases
Don't go like an under-loaded Traveller either with just 1 bag.

Bowl middle-stump as Glenn McGrath would say.
Don't be afraid to go without some stuff,
don't be afraid to take some stuff.
Go for being 'happy' that you're not taking too much, not taking too little.
If you make that valid effort for yourself - you will attain that satisfaction that you're ready.

I used to say to first time caravaners - always take more than less on your first trip/travel, etc. In time, you'll work out what you don't 'need', but until you learn that - its best to take more than less... just in case.

Travelling very light is like looking cool. But there are times you find yourself buying stuff that you could have brought with you in the first place.
Plus, having a BIG SUITCASE says you're a Tourist and people put 'tourists' before 'travellers' in the Tourism Industry.
Having a travel light small back-pack or day-bag says "I don't need help." and thus you're on your own.

I'm a traveller. But I enjoy playing the part of a Tourist. I even have a 'hawaiin shirt and white fluffy hat'. Being a Tourist is far more 'sociable' and things 'happen' out of nowhere. It's 'fun'. That's all I have to say.
But when I have to revert back to 'traveller' through time and space, its like back to work along the back-roads and with people and all things that don't associate with a 'holiday'.

I recall reading once, pack your suitcase, then take half of it out!
Must admit, I’ve learnt I packed more than I needed by coming home with clothes that were never worn!
I’ve ordered this interesting item so as not to be reliant on laundromats.

Sounds ok for $65 I guess. If you're inclined to have fresh clothes every day?
Why not just spray the deodorants and perfumes to alleviate the worries of 3 day old clothes?

Shoe sprays work well on refreshing clothes from bacterial odours - mostly in warmer weather.

I can’t stand perfumes much… and anything aerosol I don’t want to pack.
The new type deodorant I’ve discovered is a small compact tin,  and it’s this….

Re: scrubba bag, perhaps use once every 3 days. Mainly socks n jocks. I have elastic with built in pegs that hangs up clothes. I’ve used it in ship cabins, and motels. Works a treat. Good for wet bathers to pin up to dry after a swim in pool or spa.
Not packing toiletries anymore, it’s everywhere now.
Just a moisturiser and a little make up.
And if we get stuck, we can always buy some over there.
Jewellery… nothing expensive … just a little costume jewellery only.
Main concern is medication and I thought maybe I need letters from doctor/specialist and extra scripts in case something goes astray. One medication I’m on became controversial and banned or restricted in some places. So that’s going to be fun hey!

Luggage weight allowed is 20 kg
I’m aiming for 15 kg
I recall back in 2001 on my first international trip… 30 kg was allowed!  Roll Eyes

Yeah 30kg was good. Plenty of 'other' people to carry my luggage - so what the heck!
I remember when I could bring back some nice knives and swords in my 'cargo' luggage. As long as I 'declared' them it was good old aussie 'she'll be right mate' Wink

No Pong. Hope it works. Let us know how that new style of washing bag goes?

Yes I’m expecting both in mail delivery this week, no pong and the scrubber bag.
So I will test them out and let you know  Smiley

I’m dragging suitcases out (not bothered with since after 2019 when lockdowns began.
I’m finding nicnacs like power adapters for various countries, eye mask, blow up neck pillows etc
I’ve found 2 silicon fold down coffee cups with sealed lids so that would be good for coffee to go when boarding bus. I’m still considering the folding little kettle.
I have a rfid travel handbag that I’ve used daily and it’s seen better days so will buy a new one a bit bigger, and use it a few months to get used to it.
I’ve learnt any new bag etc with stuff in there gets too confusing. So best to get acquainted with the handbag  Smiley

I’m all ears for any tips what to bring that would make travel comfy.

How exciting.
eye blindfolds to sleep behind, extra smalls onboard to change into after 16 hours of travel.

To keep bugs/colds away, start the habit of not touching your own face.
It'll take a few weeks to get this habit in good practise. Harder to do than it sounds.

Don't forget to cough and sneeze on any Chinese you meet.
Apparently it brings good luck!  Smiley

Yay they arrived today!
I have put a matchbox next to it so you can see the compact size.
My daughter already has one and said it’s good and she keeps it in her handbag.
I’ve only just heard of it and it’s been in existence since 2015

So far, so good. I am impressed! Miniature or compact is way to travel! Not 30 kg luggage!

I’m going to buy folding silicon bottles next and I bring cordial… ages ago I heard if water is a bit iffy, or if you have a tummy bug, cordial helps.
Well so I read in trip advisor…

Rasberry Cordial!!!
You'll be bouncing around in flight like kids hyper on rasberry cordial in the back seat on long car trips. "Are we there yet!?" you and hubby will be annoying the Stewards with every 15 mins.  Grin

Visiting Leiden University for the next 10 days but today is a big holiday here, the 450th anniversary of Leiden's liberation from the Spanish. A crowded but very good natured day in the city.  Big crowds and beer everywhere with good cheer, street music and dancing. They will be mighty pissed by sunset.
