Thanks Frank!
I’ve forwarded it on to my friend.

The suggestion she made was we could stopover in Dubai between flights for a couple days but.. my concern I need to find out is…
Since some of us travelling are on medications… need to find out which are banned from which country etc

https://www.express.co.uk/travel/articles/1873325/europe-train-journey-seven-cities/amp

That train journey looks good.
My friend was saying she liked porterage so I guess that means with trains we lug suitcases around ourselves?

Today I was tidying up today throwing accumulated stuff out and came upon one of many pamphlets with ANZ credit card insurance. It included travel insurance. Why pay for separate travel insurance when I use my card a lot! So I may go enquire in bank in a couple days to ask about it etc

I just remembered something. Planning and packing for a “holiday” is exhausting  Grin
Funny thing is, I always enjoy looking back at photos and say I’m glad we did this etc

Oh so true!
How many times in situations I wondered if I would ever get back home alive!
River rafting with no life jackets in Fiji came to mind!

Nearly got a deal (all the others were fast being booked out!) and lots of changes from doing 2 different tours, to having breaks between long flights enroute (eg 2 days in Dubai) then a cruise came up with a itinerary after going from from Paris to Venice and leaving Venice to the Greek isles….but… with all the changes and trying to get it by Sept/oct… the one thing I said no to … an inside cabin on the ship.
So that’s stopped that from happening… silly thing is… inside cabins and balcony cabins are the same price, hence balcony cabins sold out. We were going to ditch doing England to Scotland for the cruise… hubby and I made a vow never to be stuck in an inside cabin on ship … if COVID or anything broke out… at least we can open a door for fresh air.
This is now on hold until next May… but doing a deposit now…to secure a balcony ….
So what do we do now? For this year? Apart from pulling my hair out!
This looks good… cruising around Japan!

https://www.tripadeal.com.au/deals/5310-all-inclusive-japan-and-south-korea-crui...

And since 2019 with our last trip to Singapore, just before COVID lockdown… I can’t find our passports with 4 years left on them  Roll Eyes
At least I’m tidying up the house as I go and decluttering!  Grin
After this weekend I’m applying for new ones.
Sigh….

Good point. Totally forgot about that consideration. Would be the pits if you got stuck inside for that. Can't see the sense of them being the same price with the balcony rooms?
Japan can be very hot in the summer. Those I know who have done the Jap summer have regretted it. It's the line-ups in the heat I guess, just standing there waiting.

It’s just so pricey.
Not doing all Europe, but from London to Venice by bus, then a cruise. Choosing balcony is $1000 each more.
Going a couple days earlier to do more in London (I always wanted to see Carnaby Street!)
And doing breaks in between flights  (stopover in Dubai for a day)
Is so an extra $1000 each, both ways makes it extra $4000 per couple.
I once did a 24 hour flight and it was a killer. Was so jet lagged for days.
Anyway, it’s crept up to just over $20,000 per couple.

These cruises are designed for Americans, Australians, Canadians who have NO IDEA about anything.

More money than sense. A BIG MARKET.

Bit the bullet and booked!
The travel agent female in phone said are you excited.
I was surprised I said I was nervous.
She assured me I would love it and feel excitement.
I replied I’m sure I will as travelling is amazing.
I’m amazed it’s finally booked after looking at so many options.
Trying to see as much as we can without the rush, and without going for broke!
It was instant checking, comparisons, queries etc etc

I decided to pay with visa so I’m insured even if it did attract a 10% surcharge!
Such a catch 22.
I’m sure it’s cheaper option than buying insurance.

Anyway, come September I’m off!
I hope to get it all together with phone/overseas/internet stuff so I can post pics up to share in here.

Yes. Her and her hubby are doing the right thing at their age  zone. Enjoying as much NEW stimulus as possible. It's keeping them younger, more vibrant and more aware.
Even Aquascoot would be proud of them. Agnes has really slowed down in her postings and the way she posts. Mothra too. Lisa has lost the plot. But Sophia here is like a Hobbit - going on an adventure! (through Time and Space).

Grin Smiley
I like that… a hobbit going on adventures through time and space.
I’ve come to realise my nervousness was because I’ve really done very little travel since 2019 and lockdowns. Except for interstate travel.

Now I’m getting all organised for packing …

My question is…. Europe I hear have no kettles for boiling water for a cuppa!
I have a little folding camp kettle I’m packing! Coffee and tea bags, small long life milk stuff, and a tube of Vegemite! And travel mugs for coffee or tea while travelling on bus.

I recall in USA it was similar in motels, no kettle to boil water, just weird coffee machines needing working out how to use! And each motel had different ones to work out!

I’m dragging suitcases out (not bothered with since after 2019 when lockdowns began.
I’m finding nicnacs like power adapters for various countries, eye mask, blow up neck pillows etc
I’ve found 2 silicon fold down coffee cups with sealed lids so that would be good for coffee to go when boarding bus. I’m still considering the folding little kettle.
I have a rfid travel handbag that I’ve used daily and it’s seen better days so will buy a new one a bit bigger, and use it a few months to get used to it.
I’ve learnt any new bag etc with stuff in there gets too confusing. So best to get acquainted with the handbag  Smiley

I’m all ears for any tips what to bring that would make travel comfy.

Take nothing.

You are not going to the other side of the world just to live exactly as you would if you had stayed home.

On my last couple of trips to Europe, I actually only had hand luggage - a backpack.

And when I go to NZ, it's always just a backpack.

I'll never check in a suitcase again.
