considering that Greenland used to be green -  1,000 years ago -
we have had higher temperatures than we have now in recent geological history.

Phew!

The temperature has now gone down to 38 degrees (4:45pm).

There is a strong west/southwesterly wind blowing now here in Rivervale but it's taking a long time to cool things down obviously because it has had to travel over hot land to reach here (I was really hoping it would cool down more quickly after the sea breeze came in just after lunchtime).

30 degree forecast now for tomorrow.

I wonder how hot it needs to get before the Bureau of Meteorology say "Hot" and "Very Hot" like they used to do instead of "Sunny", "Mostly sunny" and "Partly cloudy" which they've been doing for the past few years?

I also did a quick bit of shopping this morning at Belmont Forum then retreated back inside here to the air conditioner.

Then it would be too hot for me when I visit (every morning to make her meals, do her washing & cleaning etc.).

She's an old lady with poor circulation - she's always cold.

She doesn't drink water, so I have to keep her cool.

The southern fjords of Greenland see some vegetation in the summer months. However...

Greenland was primarily an ice-covered island when it was discovered by Erik the Red in the 10th century. He chose the name "Greenland" to encourage settlers to the area.

Ah Snopes.  but these some vegetation included barley.
