ABC Slammed For Racially Charged NYE Fireworks

ABC is slammed for making New Year's Eve 9pm show all about 'Invasion Day' with 'woke' Aboriginal rappers - as disappointed parents ask: 'Where's the Bluey fireworks for kids?'

The ABC has been blasted for making its family friendly 9pm coverage of the iconic New Year's Eve celebrations about 'Invasion Day'.

The extravaganza is typically known as the 'fireworks for children', with younger audiences going to bed before the midnight display.

This year, after the characters from the popular cartoon Bluey were projected onto the pillars of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the 9pm show kicked off with a racially-charged monologue followed by a rap performance of a song called 'Our People' by Indigenous rap group '3 Percent'.

Confused parents took to social media complaining the lead in to the Calling Country fireworks display was not appropriate for children.

Against my better judgment I tuned into the ABC just before the 9pm fireworks display and lasted all of 5 minutes before turning it off.

What an appalling display of bias, division and rapping at what is essentially supposed to be the family and kids fireworks display.

Why are we still funding the ABC? Never again!

No advocates have unearthed comments made by a Voice architect who threatened to no longer conduct Welcome to Country ceremonies if the referendum failed.

Following Saturday night's resounding rejection of the Voice, former Liberal Senator and conservative commenter Cory Bernadi aimed a tweet at Marcia Langton to remind her of a vow she made earlier this year.

'Does the success of today's vote mean Marcia Langton's promise of no more Welcome to Country will be honoured?' Bernadi wrote.

Speaking to The Australian in April, Prof Langton said if the Voice failed non-Indigenous Australians would feel too ashamed to ask traditional owners to do a Welcome to Country.

'How are they ever going to be able to ask me to come and speak at their conference?' she said.

'If they have the temerity to do it, of course the answer is going to be no.'

I always have but I thought I'd check out the fireworks and they were the only channel covering it. 5 minutes was enough for another lifetime.
