The three dissenting justices each wrote separately. The most interesting came from Justice Carlos Samour Jr., who said barring Trump from the ballot without legislation from Congress implementing Section 3 violates Trump’s due process rights, especially because Trump has not been charged with insurrection.

“More broadly, I am disturbed about the potential chaos wrought by an imprudent, unconstitutional, and standardless system in which each state gets to adjudicate Section Three disqualification cases on an ad hoc basis,” Samour wrote. “Surely, this enlargement of state power is antithetical to the framers’ intent.”
...

But there is no world in which the justices [of the SCOTUS] are going to empower states to throw Trump off their ballots. Given that, the court should keep in mind: This is a moment it should aspire to be the unanimous court of Brown v. Board of Education, not the splintered, party-line body of Bush v. Gore.

On that score, it was fitting that the Colorado court’s ruling arrived on the day of the memorial service for Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who was reliably reported to have regretted her vote with the Bush v. Gore majority.

“Probably the Supreme Court added to the problem at the end of the day,” O’Connor told the Chicago Tribune in 2013. That is a good test for the current court. Will its eventual ruling — and one seems unavoidable — add to the problem or help resolve it?

don't know why the nongs here still care so much about this guy to be so deranged regarding him, it isn't as though he's an unknown entity at this point, 'we' already have had 4 years of him, and he didn't do any of the things that everybody was initially so frightened he would allegedly do when he was first elected. illegal and legal immigration both pump pumped as hard under him as they did under any other president, he didn't build a wall, etc. so what do they f_cking care? is it just the fact that he is especially obnoxious to a lot of people? yeah that might be fair enough, but if that alone drives the level of anguish and obsession exhibited i think that says a lot about the state of personal lives of some of the people on this site. if elected again, he's going to be even less vigorous, coherent and energetic than he was the first time; he might even die in office, he's certainly not a healthy person.

Indeed, why should anyone care about having the leader of an insurrection in politics.  So unfair, ey?

He didn't run an insurrection ?

He didn't get himself impeached twice ?

He didn't mismanage covid to the point where a million Americans died ?

He didn't use the office of the president to enrich himself?

He hasn't been convicted of rape in a civil case?

He didn't brag about sexually assaulting women ?

etc.

Well of course he did.

When Scotus support the ruling it means that Trump will be removed from the ballot in all states.

They also have the option to not take the case.

covid was effectively unmanageable in a country like america, that is an insane position to suggest anyone else would have been any different. look at the titanic struggle it was in australia of all places, a country with no land borders and relatively few entry/exit points, and relatively homogeneous inter-state politics. the red states would never have accepted lockdowns at all and that alone would have doomed the entire country to covid spread.

i don't give a f_ck about the rest sorry

No, I'm asking you because you said.

Which countries are empting their jails, spastic centres and retard clinics and bussing them to the southern border?

Please explain?

I don't really know -
I just trust that our dear leader has his facts straight  -  you?

Why would you trust that?

Did you trust Ju-liar when she said she had no plans for a carbon tax under a government she leads?

Did you trust Dan Andrews when he said he would fix rail crossings and have no more covid lockdowns?

Did you trust ScoMo when he said he was just PM and not the minister for everything else?

You don't trust politicians ever, Bobby, so I'm curious. Why do you trust DL when you know he's lying to you directly?

Hitler never lied in Mein Kampf   - why should the big fella lie in his book?

Good point, JC. It's too hard to run a country like America. Imagine, they saved more lives in India.

On the upside, the Yanks managed to keep the tinted races out for three years under title 42, so it's even-Steven, no?

It's business puffery - quite legal.

https://study.com/academy/lesson/puffery-in-advertising-definition-examples.html

Advertising puffery is the legal use of exaggeration and boasting by companies to advertise their products. Claims made are so exaggerated, no reasonable person would believe them to be literally true.

imagine thinking that a country like india with a median age of of 28 is comparable to the u.s, a country which also has the highest obesity rate in the world

remember what the two biggest aggravating comorbidities of covid were? did you even know in the first place? or have you forgotten? there's a reason why sub-saharan africa was effectively unimpacted by it

>also assuming that indian statistics would be as accurate as a first world country LoL

Oh, it probably will be.

But the damage is done now.

Overturning the decision won't erase it from history.

Donald Trump is officially known as an insurrectionist now.

dunno about that, could go eitherway. the thing about these kinds of political plays is that they're often a double edged sword.
