Oh yeah! Now that’s what I’m talking about when back in 2009…. On our first cruise…. In Pacific Ocean towards pacific islands…. Cyclone hit and Fiji copped it big time.

Friends we went with, their 2 daughters were in Fiji when it happened and we’re stuck there for a week without power etc.

As for our Sun Princess liner…. At the edge of this cyclone… waves were massive!
On 5 th deck the waves were showing themselves by the windows!

The pools were closed off with nets and I do have a vid somewhere of the water in the pool going back and forth.

We were in an inside cabin and all I could hear was creaking of walls/ceiling! I felt enclosed and I was a bit freaked out so decided to sit outside on deck and watch the seas rolling. I just needed to keep watch.
Since then I vowed never to have an inside statesroom again!

And every cruise since was a piece of cake compared to that cyclonic cruise event Grin

We once had a rough cruise with swaying to and fro so we all look drunk walking up corridors…and Steady Eddy was the comedian entertaining us.
He said… if we saw him walking along … not to stop him to talk because he’s be walking perfectly in momentum with ship’s swaying!

Nah… no way… I never took you for being the throwing up kind! Grin

But there are some that do… and areas are cordoned off for big clean up by staff!

I got used to boating in rough seas when a teen as dad used to go fishing a lot… when he went through the heads at Portsea… and big swells were rocking and rolling the 22ft cabin cruiser…. I put a life jacket on Angry

my parents were like daredevil rebels! Poor me! Grin

But them freshly caught flatheads were the best! My folks clean and scale the fish and then coat with beer batter, so yuuuum!
One of my few fave memories as a teen!

I spent most of the 5 weeks (Suez was blocked—Israel/Egypt war) and was sick for most of that.

Where I wasn’t sick? The roughest part, Perth–Melbourne, side-on to the huge waves. Was great! In the lounge the movable furniture had been removed, only the bolted–on tables were left. Us kids would gather at one side of the lounge, it would rise up and us kids would slide to the other side, gather ourselves until that side heaved up when we would slide to the other side, etc etc.

My main memory of that? Not the sliding—the fixed couches either side of the lounge filled with women knitting! When I later read of women knitting either side of the guillotine—that is the image came to my mind Grin
