As MeisterEckhart and Aquascoot have decided to
derail this thread with a meaningless rant against
baby boomers, I have to ask the obvious questions...

Why are they so afraid of us boomers, and what fuels
their jealousy of our lifestyles?

Each of them will eventually become so-called shadow
boomers, so it'd be interesting to revisit the silly comments
they make now when that time—inevitability as the clock
turns—comes around.

—I'd be interested in knowing just how old MeisterEckhart
   and Aquascoot are...  guys?

The only time you seem to respond on this forum is when you have a codger spat.

LOL... as I expected.  Too fearful of telling us how old you are.

How pathetic.   All piss and wind.      Cheesy

Piss and wind, eh!

Not that I'd recommend publishing personal details, but did you reveal your age?

What you posted was that you're a Boomer.

That puts you in the age range of 60 to 78...

Judging from your posts, I'm guessing you're close to the latter end.

Well, you can forget your "pity" as I (thankfully) never had
children.  In fact most children are everything we abhor in
adults—they're egocentric, ill-mannered, are unruly and noisy,
demanding, selfish, impudent, and intolerant etc.

I'm not quite sure you mean by implying I could be an
"entitled leech" or "bludging" on society?   Please clarify.

Same here. No children... and for the exact same reasons.

"Please clarify"

Oh, God.... NO!!! Here comes another aquascoot word salad about "the meaning of life" (according to him).

Kids are the meaning of life
Grandkids even more so
A society which does not recognise this is doomed

The great thing about kids grandkids a business having lots of animals
Is that there are always problems and challenges to be dealt with

Andrew huberman the world's number one medical podcaster was talking about a area of the brain called the pre-singulate cortex

It appears to be totally related to the solving of novel problems
It is the drive that makes us feel elevated when we solve a new problem

If you fail to stimulate this area of the brain
Depression and dementia come on much more quickly

Heberman believes that this center of the brain
Is closely related to the
Will to live

In other words once you have solved all your problems
Evolutionary biology causes you to lose your desire to stay alive

If you want to bounce out of bed every morning with vigor
If you want 2 flourish
You must insure you have plenty of problems and challenges to face up to

Kids grandkids and running a business are protective of your mental health

Sitting on a beach
Watching daytime TV
Pleasuring yourself at the local food court
Being constantly stuck in your own head with no concerns except yourself is catastrophic

Observed even with captive high-order animals.

It's long been realised by zoo workers that if high-order animals are kept in enclosures where food is easily available, the animals become depressed and neurotic and tend to self-harm or become aggressive towards other animals.

Again, not surprising given your posts.

It explains your obsession with your aunt - your only reason for being.

lol... yeah, sure.

You just go right on believing that if you like.

My only "obsession" with my nearly 94 year old aunt is keeping her safe from Covid because our useless PM and his government can't/won't (because of "the economy", of course).

We've both had Covid once which was one time more than I was planning to get it. I don't intend for it to happen again.

Perhaps Airbus Albo meant for a few weeks after 15/7/2022 when he said "coming weeks"? But he didn't even protect them for that long.

And before covid, what was your obsession with her focused on?

Governments across the world are winding back the covid obsession, even within the demented Trudeau government - it's a matter of: rebuild the economy after the covid overreaction or face economic collapse.

Meanwhile... back in reality...

Woman in 'despair' after shielding from Covid for years

This is in the UK but the same thing has been happening/is still happening here in Australia (despite the government claiming that the vulnerable would be protected).

Quote:
A former lawyer says she is in "despair" after spending three years in isolation shielding from Covid-19.

Jennifer, who lives in North East Somerset and has eight autoimmune conditions, says she is living a "ridiculously restricted, unpleasant, depressing life".

She said she is one of thousands of "forgotten people" still shielding from the virus.

Jennifer is now backing a new report calling on the government to do more.

A group of MPs has been discussing the findings of a report from the University of Bath, which surveyed 800 immuno-compromised people on the ongoing impact of Covid-19 - and they're calling on Health Minister Victoria Atkins to take action.

Quote:
The report revealed "persistent, negative differences in health, finances, mental health, trust in politics and life satisfaction" among immuno-compromised people when compared with the general population.

It also found immuno-compromised people had higher rates of diagnosis of mental health conditions.

In the UK, 1.2 million people are still classed as "clinically exceptionally vulnerable" to Covid-19 and are required to shield.

Due to their conditions and medications the current Covid-19 vaccines are ineffective for many of them.

Quote:
Jennifer, who has multiple health conditions and is functionally disabled, said she was in "despair, desolation and great depression" from being in isolation for so long.

"There's been no shops, no travel, no life, nothing. I feel that my life is passing me by," she said.

No one has visited her in her house for about three years and she lives separately to her husband.

"He's entitled to have a life, but it means we do not have a life together," she said.

Jennifer said catching Covid-19 could result in her hospitalisation or even death.

She is also worried about being admitted to hospital for any other problem and catching the virus there.

Protective drugs could help give people with compromised immune systems more freedom, but the government has not yet agreed to fund any.

But, as long as the "majority" can do whatever they like - parties, holidays etc. and spending, spending, spending for the economy (maskless, of course) then the many people like Jennifer are not important, are they?

You believe a mask keeps you safe so wear one and you will be safe right?  If not why demand it?

You believe in lockdowns to keep you safe, so lock yourself down and shop from home etc.

Carl do whatever you need to do if you believe it keeps you safe but trying to dictate misplaced compulsory authoritative demands on others is irrational and paranoid.

Hi BO,
I think the masks at least stop people from coughing or sneezing
an aerosol of droplets into the air.
They help a bit.
Every time I go shopping - about every 2 minutes I hear someone coughing or sneezing
and almost no one is wearing a mask.
Most don't bother using a tissue or using their elbow to break the sneeze or cough -
they are filthy, irresponsible animals.

Round and round and round we go...

Feels like I'm trapped on a merry-go-round of endless stupidity in this section.

No wonder hardly anyone posts here anymore, it's like freaking Groundhog Day.

(I'm replying to Black Orchid here by the way, Bobby posted while I was typing).

Oh, and I'm also replying to the post below this which just 'popped up' while I was editing.

It's called having a life... Might be a bit late for you to start trying it.

Name calling now?  Well done, Carl.

And you're right it is like an obsessively paranoid Groundhog Day.  Well done again!

He wants the world locked down so he and his aunt can shuffle through empty streets lined with closed-down shops.

Always the same with those who've never lived...

Wear your mask and keep away from people then Bobby.

People don't just cough and sneeze on the area your mask covers ie your mouth and nose.  They'll cough and sneeze on your groceries, clothes, arms, skin, hair etc.  A mask isn't going to save you.
