They won't, (the 'universe' is neither moral nor amoral), but their children and grandchildren have and will.

Sustainable utopias can exist only in religious narratives in the form of a heaven or higher realm.

For mortals, temporary utopias come at a huge price - rapacious, pointless and self-rewarding consumerism, diminished concern for descendants' wellbeing, lower birth rates, diminishing resources, and severe existential angst imposed on descendants...

What exactly is the point of septuagenarians selling the farm to wander across the continent like aristocratic gypsies?

firstly, the number if australians who are fully vacced (at this stage 5 vaccines) is 1 in 20.

so
95%
of the population are vaccine skepical.

Why is that the case, I wonder? Hint: it is closely related to the fact that 95% (more like 99% actually) won't wear a mask in crowded places to protect themselves and others from SARS-CoV-2. Oh, and in the case of the Covid vaccines, government and business "messaging" that Covid is over or "just a cold" nowadays.

i really dont understand why silly old men like carl, geoff and gweggy think they speak for the majority .

Is that the majority of the half a dozen people (maximum) who read these threads? Or the majority of the Australian population?

Either way, they're obviously not listening. Eat, drink and be merry (and spend lots of money) is the only thing the majority are listening to at the moment.

Yes, of course. Because everyone seems to believe it's just so normal to be constantly sick and sneezing and/or hacking up a lung (like I hear so many doing when I'm out shopping these days) at this time of the year in Australia.

And, I guarantee if I asked any of them if they think they might have Covid I would get that stunned, 'deer caught in the headlights' stare and they would say something like "oh, no... it isn't Covid" or "can't be Covid because I was told the pandemic is over".

While you're here... seeing as you're OzPolitic's Master of the Word Salad, could you decipher this for me?

If it's too confusing even for you perhaps your maskless wife who works in the local hospital might be able to help?

This response from @NSWCEC @NSWHealth on behalf of @RyanPark_Keira is so utterly negligent and deliberately risking the health of patients while @ACSQHC stand by and watch the charter of healthcare rights become completely meaningless. We urgently need airborne infection control!

Don't forget to read the replies.

(And, yes... I know that's in NSW but it would be exactly the same in Queensland and the rest of Australia).

Try to read it and reconcile against the established science & best IPC after 4 years studying this virus.
Unbelievable on so many levels.
With leadership like this it fully explains the mess we are in.
Thank you @plumskyjam for continuing the fight🙏

Indeed.

For the record, I couldn't finish it. It was so poorly written and full of so much crap, my mind would not tolerate and I gave up. It is not only embarrassing for @NSWHealth and @NSWCEC that they would send such a document, surely it equates with incredible incompetence.

Well, we are talking about government and pollies here so I wouldn't have expected anything different.

The main thrust of the covid (over)reaction is due almost entirely to the Boomer generation's 'outrage' that their utopian life might be rudely interrupted... by 'unexpected' death - they all think 'science' and the rapid escalation of technology they have experienced all their lives will translate into their living forever - or at least until they're 120.

That sentiment is augmented by Gen-Z's predisposition towards suffering extreme anxiety over anything.

Boomers' concern for, say, vaccines being the cause of premature descendant-generations deaths, is not only nonexistent, but they refuse to allow it even to be discussed - with politicians from both sides of the aisle refusing even to debate it in their respective legislatures.

human success RELIES upon the social contract that each generation will
sacrifice itself to ensure that the subsequent generation does better.

migrants understand this
they will happily work 2 blue collar jobs to see their kids go to university
it is the fuel that give them joy.

when societies do not ensure the next generation does better, the next generation becomes very disruptive and unhappy and , surprisingly, most of the grandparents become very unhappy about the distress subsequent generations are manifesting

society will fall over if this is not corrected.

young people must be given better housing then their parents, better education, better health care, more srimulating jobs, better prospects for travel and for meeting the opposite sex and raising their own family,

currently, on EVERY parameter, the younger generation are worse off.

the older generation appear to just not care

they are using their home equity to fuel personal pleasure rather then building wealth to be passed on

this is the number one thing that will result in societal collapse.
it seems the older generation are so selfish they dont care and they think they will be out of here when the poo really hits the fan .

disgraceful stuff

And speaking of sh!t...

As the population of post-boomer generations continues its decline and those generations don't see much honour in careers as carers, who will be there to hose the sh!t off these Boomers' demented arses?

It will be left to their grandkids whom they swindled out of an inheritance due to their last-minute mad dash to relive their teenage years as grey nomads... so, good luck with that!

And good luck to the "grey nomads" seeing as they are perfectly entitled to spend the grandkids' "inheritance" as they see fit.

You know the old saying - "You can't take it with you (when you die)".

The grandkids can work and earn their own money just like their grandparents did... and if the kids are "flourishing" as much as aquascoot likes to think they should be then that shouldn't be a problem for them now, should it?

Incorrect

We should be handing over balanced books a balanced energy situation
An ability to extract resources if necessary as the boomers have done

The boomers have basically racked up debt
Trashed mother nature
Extracted all the fossil fuel and water to fuel their own entitlement

And then said to the younger generation clean up this mess
Pay off that debt
And do it all whilst getting your energy from solar panels and wind turbines

Talk about selfish entitlement
Disgraceful stuff

And no one is obliged to nurse them as they rot from the inside out.

As MeisterEckhart and Aquascoot have decided to
derail this thread with a meaningless rant against
baby boomers, I have to ask the obvious questions...

Why are they so afraid of us boomers, and what fuels
their jealousy of our lifestyles?

Each of them will eventually become so-called shadow
boomers, so it'd be interesting to revisit the silly comments
they make now when that time—inevitability as the clock
turns—comes around.

—I'd be interested in knowing just how old MeisterEckhart
   and Aquascoot are...  guys?

I am a boomer
Could easily easily retired if I wanted to and live in luxury
Could spend the next 20 years on a cruise ship or lolling around on a beach

Would probably be last about 2 hours before I was bored out of my brain
Intend to work until the day I die

Absolutely adore the grind
Should be able to pass on capital and be a good role model to children and grandchildren
Capital will only be passed on to children and grandchildren who show the correct attitude to life

That is

If one of my children is extremely successful then I would probably give them a larger share
As we should reinforce success

Thankfully they are all extremely motivated and hence that keeps me motivated to keep building the family equity pie

If you are approaching old age and your focus is not on your children and grandchildren
I absolutely pity you

The thought of pleasuring myself in my old age makes me feel sick to my stomach
I would jump out a window rather than be an entitled leech bludging on society

Well, you can forget your "pity" as I (thankfully) never had
children.  In fact most children are everything we abhor in
adults—they're egocentric, ill-mannered, are unruly and noisy,
demanding, selfish, impudent, and intolerant etc.

I'm not quite sure you mean by implying I could be an
"entitled leech" or "bludging" on society?   Please clarify.

What a surprise, not!

So you've been a child all your life, then.
