The World went into LOCKDOWN today after everyone spread every conceivable virus in existence around in the most mass gatherings ever in a year.

Today, the air is clear, the birds are singing, humans are locked away, businesses are closed. The natural world rejoices.

Seriously - is there any point in continuing to waste taxpayers' money on places like NSW "Health" who are obviously staffed by trolls these days?

Quote:
With COVID-19 remaining at high levels in the community, do you need to refresh your COVID-safe behaviours to stop the spread of illness and protect others?

"Be kind to those who choose to wear a mask"  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Again (since this is about the 5th or 6th time they've done this in the past month or so) HOW ON EARTH IS THIS A "COVID-safe behaviour"?

At least they're not telling everyone to keep washing their hands this time.

The Victorian Department of Health has tried to encourage mask wearing (even though the majority would ignore it, of course).

I suppose it's a bit better than Queensland with aquascoot's hero Dr. Death/Lex Luthor running the 'show'.

https://nitter.net/qldhealth/status/1737646069922795813#m

Quote:
⚠️ Increase in respiratory infections hits QLD ⚠️

Queenslanders are urged to prioritise good hygiene habits this festive season amid an unseasonal surge in respiratory infections across the state. Read more:

https://www.health.qld.gov.au/newsroom/doh-media-releases/unseasonal-increase-in...

And here's Lex's "advice":

Quote:
“I urge everyone, especially during upcoming festive gatherings, to practice good hand hygiene habits and stay away from vulnerable friends and relatives if you are sick,” he said.

Nothing about wearing masks, of course.

Oh, and...

Quote:
Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard said the recent increase in hospitalisations due to respiratory infection was unusual for this time of year.

Unusual? Really? With Covid running rampant all around Australia (he knows what's causing it but he's not allowed to say the "C" word anymore just like the rest of Australia's CHO's and pollies).

Quote:
“There are currently 322 patients in Queensland hospitals with COVID-19 and 66 patients in hospital with influenza,” Dr Gerrard said.

“The number of patients hospitalised with COVID-19 started climbing in mid-October, plateaued throughout November, and then took a surprising turn upwards again in December.

“The current number of Queenslanders in hospital with COVID-19 is more than four times higher than mid-October.

“While influenza hospitalisations remain far below their winter peak (more than 400), their summer rise is still unusual.”

Yes, "still unusual".  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

This guy would have been sacked ages ago if he wasn't telling the pollies (and big business) what they want to hear, same as the rest of Australia's CHO's.

It was hard to tell the sound of the fireworks from all the 'congested coughing' and 'phlegm build-up'.

And... here comes the next step in our governments sweeping Covid under the rug and hiding more data.

Just as JN.1 rips through the population.

https://nitter.net/SMpwrgr/status/1743108773542281389#m

South Australia.

Quote:
I know you were likely hoping this could fly under the radar on Twitter by only announcing on Facebook but …

how on earth can you justify removing reporting of cvd hospitalisations? 😳⬇️

You are less & less a Dept of Health

& more & more a Dept of Stealth 😡

Yes. Yes they most certainly are.

And...

https://nitter.net/_PH___PH_/status/1743110009209467082#m

Quote:
They always do this... state by state... drop protections, delete data.
NSW usually first. It’s appalling.

Yes they do. And, yes it is.

I've asked this many times but I'll ask once more - how are people supposed to use "personal responsibility" and "assess their own risks" when it comes to Covid when governments are slowly but surely removing the information they need to do so?

aquascoot... got anything to say about this?

At least one Australian State/Territory is still making some sort of effort regarding Covid.

Victorian Department of Health

Quote:
There has been an increase in community transmissions along with hospitalisations of COVID cases. This is linked to a new variant, JN.1.
We will continue to monitor surveillance indicators & inform the public when transmission returns to a low level of activity.

Quote:
You can protect yourself & your loved ones from COVID with these 6 steps:

😷 Wear a mask
🏠 Stay home if sick
⏰ Test if you have symptoms
🌳 Let fresh air in or meet outdoors
💉 Stay up to date with your vaccinations
💡 Talk to your GP about COVID medicines.

Kudos to Victoria's new CHO, Dr. Clare Looker.

At least they're not too scared to mention masks unlike the rest of the States and Territories but unless they're mandated most of the population will just ignore this of course.

And no stupid "advice" such as "Be kind to those who choose to wear a mask" like New South Wales.  Roll Eyes

I'm guessing Queensland might have also had the same sort of honest and straightforward Covid advice if they hadn't replaced Dr. Jeannette Young with John "Dr. Death/Lex Luthor" Gerrard who is nothing more than a political/big business stooge - same as the rest of Australia's CHO's (apart from Victoria).

And, again... for those at the back of the class... if you're still thinking Covid is "just a cold" these days... when was the last time (before Covid) something like this happened in Australia in the middle of summer?

I'm betting I'm only one of a handful of people (excluding those in government who would no doubt like it to stay that way) who knows this.

I believe it's still illegal in NSW to go into public without 'reasonable precautions' if you know you have Covid. Punishable by up to 6 months' in jail and/or a fine. Section 52 of the NSW Public Health Act.

It's the same in Victoria and probably most or all of the other States and Territories.

Quote:
It’s covered in Victoria’s Health Act too. Potential large fines. 200 penalty units at  $192.31 a pop.

But, just like everything Covid related these days it is being ignored (by government and an uninformed population). And who would enforce it anyway?

And... (regarding mask wearing):

Yes, and that's why it is completely ignored by the majority of the population. Which is exactly what our governments and big business want.

Doctor Arrested For Prescribing Fresh Air, Sunshine

VENTURA, CA - Local physician Dr. Greg E. Meade was arrested and charged with endangering the public health after he prescribed a patient fresh air and sunshine.

"You know what the best thing for you to do right now is to go outside, get some fresh air, and enjoy the sunshine," the dangerous madman told a patient. "Walk around, breathe in deep, take in the sun. It'll do you some good."

As soon as he said this, authorities busted into his office and tackled him to the ground. "We're puttin' you away for good, you anti-science maniac!" an officer shouted as he cuffed the doctor and walked him out to his patrol car. "Now society is finally safe from bigoted, backward, unscientific ideas like that going outside is good for you."

Calling Queensland's Dr. Death... calling Dr. Death... time to stop pretending Covid is over or it's just a cold or flu.

Oh, and this mythical 'hybrid immunity' still hasn't appeared (and most likely never will).

Queensland GPs flooded with patients reporting heart problems after long COVID.

https://nitter.net/BigBadDenis/status/1746293292093018238#m

Quote:
“We are now seeing the impact of long COVID which makes it clear that Queenslanders should be more aware of taking precautions."

So... who is going to advise them to take precautions? And would they take any notice? (Spoiler alert: NO).

https://nitter.net/NobodyImpawtant/status/1746295851671343211#m

Quote:
This was necessary though..

Yes it was (because of the economy, especially tourism)... and it will continue to be "necessary" because idiots like Dr. Death would NEVER admit that they made a serious (and deadly for over 3,300 Queenslanders so far) mistake when he said that 2 years ago.

i'd bet those heart problems are due to bad diet, poor exercise and lack of fitness .

lockdowns had a bad effect on all 3

if only people  had hit the gym instead of the couch during lockdowns

dan, the guiness book of records holder for lockdowns has blood on his hands

i'm glad you are out and about eating salads and at the gym pumping weight carl, along with your aunt.

it should reduce your risk of heart disease and her risk of a broken hip

$100 for that excellent advice please.

send it to me along with an apology to the wonderful Dr Gerrard

We've dealt with the gym and exercise routine here many times already so I'll just comment on this part:

OK, here we go (this is waaaaay too easy these days mainly because trying to find someone who has something nice to say about him is like looking for that needle in a haystack).

Quote:
Qld CHO is 'shocked' by low rate of vaccination in aged care. He's often surprised by 'unpredictable' waves of infection.
Know who isn't surprised? @Globalbiosec

@AlboMP it's time you listen to her

The replies are 100% spot on, as always.

And yes, it's time to start listening to real experts like Professor Raina MacIntyre

https://nitter.net/Globalbiosec/with_replies

And, from the esteemed Dr. David Berger (a real medical doctor) again:

Quote:
If only the Qld CHO had any power or influence in this matter. It must be so terribly frustrating for him.

Just look at this disgrace (in Queensland again).

https://nitter.net/BigBadDenis/status/1747767665165517098#m

Quote:
Queensland: "A Hervey Bay aged care facility dealing with a COVID tsunami involving about 40 patients is facing additional claims of patient neglect, failure to inform families and failure to follow COVID protocols"

Click on the images to read the article.

I suspect the same thing is happening all around Australia but this is one of the worst examples I've seen for a while now.

And, as always, the esteemed Dr. David Berger is spot on with his comment.

https://nitter.net/YouAreLobbyLud/status/1747796564939305316#m

Quote:
"Welcome to 2022, the year this pandemic ends"

I am intrigued to know when this quote will cease being evergreen. For my part, I am quite ready for this pandemic to go away and the minimisers to say "I told you so". I shall then eat whatever humble pie they wish and go away.

And I would be quite happy to do exactly the same but sadly I don't believe it will happen for many years, perhaps not even in my lifetime with the way we're going with this pandemic.
