We lost a lot of money when we bulldozed our F-111s into the ground.
I'm sure some other country would have loved to have had all of them.
I'm also sure that many RAAF boys would have liked to go overseas
to help with maintenance too -
I bet many lost their jobs when the F-111 was gone or
at a minimum their valuable experience was thrown away.

No one wanted to see the veterans of the RAAF come to such an end,
it was a requirement of Australian military arrangement with the US that they be securely disposed of.
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) operated the General Dynamics F-111C,
which had a maximum service ceiling of approximately 60,000 feet (18,200 meters)
to over 66,000 feet (20,000 meters) depending on the configuration.
Known for high-altitude, high-speed performance,
it could reach Mach 2.5 above 50,000 feet.
