Reminds me of how Rebreathers (Closed Circuit underwater apparatus) were first innovated, but Cousteau's SCUBA (Open Circuit) seemed to take off. Only in the last 15 years have Rebreathers really made a comeback in an affordable and safer way and are the now choice of serious Divers.

So too this Electrical Waverly from 1901.
Seems gas/petrol/etc cars got the go ahead to pollute the world, due mostly to $$$$ in that more people could get richer out of fuel cars, rather than electrical... like the arabs.

Petrol cars won because they were more practical and were ready for use 24/7.
Electrics lacked range and steam cars took too long to start; forget the conspiracy theories, petrol cars were accepted because they were the best for the average person.

I think that's a fair point.
But as we see things now. Maybe if they stuck with electrical advancement - it could have been different.
Betachord was far superior to VHS - but 'marketing' made the difference as an add.
