Melbourne road named Australia's most dangerous

Australia's worst crash hotspots have been revealed, with a Melbourne road taking the title of the country's most dangerous for the sixth consecutive year.

Plenty Road at Bundoora in Melbourne's northeast was named Australia's worst crash hotspot on Thursday as part of insurer AAMI's 2023 crash index.

Yes sorry, missed that bit. I was too focussed on the $120million he spent on criminal barrister Nicola Gobbo the informant to Vic Police against her own clients. No-one is charged with any offence.

There is suburban growth at Mernda. 'The road continues as a 6 lane divided road (as of the 2019 upgrade) with a speed limit of 80 km/h until just before Mernda, where the road reduces to 4 lanes. North of the Bridge Inn Road intersection in Mernda, the road again reduces to a 2 lane single carriageway with a speed limit of 100 km/h'.

So speed rises by 25% but lanes reduce by 60%.

There are a few roads like that here in SA. They taper off as the traffic does. And as the road becomes more rural, the speed increases.

It's not people cramming into each other that causes the road accidents by your account. It's speed. Most likely speeding.

On the 100Kmh road connecting my village to the wider world I drive at 99kph.

Sometimes I get overtaken by someone who soon dwindles into the distance—crazy speed on an ordinary, much patched road that, while not busy there are always cars on it. Then there are caravans, caravans and utes that dawdle yet NEVER pull over to let others pass—build up of impatience and recklessness.

Do the speed of the road, no more no less!

Ohhh YES! Thank you for the reminder! There’s that unbelievable corrupt fiasco which ALSO occurred under Dhead Dan’s watch. VicPol and the entire Vic Judicial “system” is a revolting sick joke. The disrespect and disregard for the separation of powers in that cringeworthy saga ... should have been enough to kick that prick out of office given HE bears ultimate responsibility.

Now back to THIS neglect ....

WHY (after not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5 but SIX CONSECUTIVE YEARS where that particular Victorian road was identified as being the most dangerous road in Australia) has Dhead Dan not been able to DO something to change that?
