A 8.7-million-year-old monkey skull that may or may not be in our evolution path.

We always knew that monkeys came first so there is nothing here we didn't already know except that this monkey was in europe at some time.

It may be an important link but it also may not. We don't know yet.

You're an idiot of the first order.
There's a direct line from kites and sails to aeronautical wings.
Ever sailed? A sail is exactly the same as an aeronautical wing, in use for at least 5 thousand years before a boomerang was sighted.

You should probably stick with unsupported insults as it looks more stupid than normal when you show that you don't know what you are talking about.

The theory between flight and sail does use the same theory but the bent surface aspect that is common to both flight and boomerangs is not used in sailing.

The bent sail and spinnaker are used downwind not using the air travel principal across a dissimilar length path just the following wind. Sailing up wind uses a tight flat sail. Up wind while using the same principal relies on a completely different mechanism, the movable angle of the sail not the shape of a fixed wing.

Of course it is. The whole principle is based on the high/low pressure generated. Ships/yachts are not blown but sucked(someone wanna cum in there?). It's not just applicable to aerodynamics but fluid dynamics also and fluid dynamic math is used to make sails.

Except for the bit you got wrong you are correct. The part I left out is the action of the keel which is more similar to flight but not sure it was used in ancient sailing. Keels seem to go back about 800 years and may have been designed just for weight.

Wrong again, the keel is to stop/slow/retard the boats sideways movement relative to the suck and where you want to go. It's more like the tail fin of a plane, not a wing.

Quote:
stop/slow/retard the boats sideways movement relative to the suck

Yes. If you consider the keel to be a downward extension of the sail but which is fixed and solid like a wing. You have water going across the keel much like air across the sail. The stabilizing effect comes from the cross current forming a stabilizing pull action away from the excess course of the wind generated pull action.

The keel is more like a friction enhancer, like your rubber car tyres or the skegs on a surfboard, to prevent sideways movement. You car tyres do not need lift. That some measure of fluid dynamics may be at play, it's not why they work like they do.

No it isn't. It's just vector addition. Only aborigines could solve ordinary differential equations 5000 years ago.

Not so sure that humour is your thing.

The cave drawings only show basic algebra.

Let's hope she wasn't a pommy homonim. An afro ape of Middle Eastern hairstyle is cultural but a Turkish pom would sound terrible.

What a load of utter garbage.

My 6 year old can make awesome paper aeroplanes.
Do you think he has a complex command of aerodynamics and
physics?

He is constructing what you showed him, 50,000 years ago he didn't even have paper. At that point your forebears may have resembled a cockroach if this evolution theory is correct. It would make sense.

They worked out shaving different surfaces on a stick caused lift.
Do you really think that equals a complex command of aerodynamics and physics?

And true to form, and objectionably offensive, one
of our resident and rabid racists couldn't resist posting
yet another nonsensical comment denigrating Aborigines.

Gordon must spend a good part of his day trawling
these threads for the slightest trigger that sets him
off on more racist rants.  What a sad, lonely life he
must lead.

He—ludicrously!—claims his son can make a paper
plane that's as (apparently) aerodynamically advanced
as a boomerang.  Which of course it's absolutely not.

Hand your son a sheet of 20mm plywood and ask him to
craft a working boomerang using only a couple of pieces
of sharpened stone.

Give it up Gordon—you're just making a bigger fool
of yourself with every comment here.   Tsk, tsk.

'Before splitting from modern humans, Neanderthal/Denisovans (or "Neandersovans") migrating out of Africa into Europe apparently interbred with an unidentified "superarchaic" human species who were already present there; these superarchaics were the descendants of a very early migration out of Africa around 1.9 mya.'
Everyone still came out of Africa. It seems the ultimate origin was in the Turkey region.

Where Geoff messed up badly is he couldn't stop at, yeah cool invention well done boongs, but he had to go all the way to command of complex aerodynamics and
physics
.

It's innovation thru cause and effect.

Did humans have command of microbiology because they knew cooking food presents sickness?

Did humans who stripped the bark off willow trees understand the pharmacologically of why it worked as an analgesic?

'Alongside the skull in the same fossil layer, experts found evidence of giraffes, warthogs, rhinos, diverse antelopes, zebras, elephants, porcupines, hyenas, and lion-like carnivores. All animals commonly associated with African grasslands and dry forests today'.
It seems that Africa in those days included Turkey. There were lions in Europe and Afro England.

It's not an invention but a chance discovery. They were throwing sticks at the enemy or prey.
Some stocks had unusual flight pattern. The not fit for purpose ones came back.
No understanding of aerodynamics is involved.
Tres amusant.

LOL... that's exactly what "invention" is based on.
And the aborigines invented the boomerang 50,000
years ago, simply because of observation, and the
application of those observations.  That's precisely
how any/all science proceeds to a working result.

At any rate, it took the Wright brothers until 1903
to produce the world's first successful flights of a
heavier-than-air flying machine.  And yes;  the
boomerang is technically a heavier-then-air flying
machine, invented by humans. [New World Encyclopedia]

And once again your innate racism shows Frank.
Belittling anything the aborigines have ever done,
even to the extent of dismissing their development
of the boomerang as "chance".  Not so.

Many relevant and well known scientific theories were
developed by chance, at some degree, throughout history...

Newton's apple falling perpendicular to the ground.

Archimedes bath full of water overflowing.

Nobel's blasting jelly.

Pasteur's accidental creation of attenuated bacteria.

Abbot Laboratories' unplanned discovery of cyclamate's sweetness.

—All as a result of chance, just like the boomerang.

So you agree, a chance discovery.
But if I say it, it is innate racism, if you say it, if is a sparkling display of your wide learning, from Newton to artificial sweeteners.

Like the wheel or Fire ?

There is a reason that a mongoose didn't invent the wheel ?

Building an aerodynamic device in that time period is big regardless of the limitations. They also had fire tools weapons built shelters and other stuff.
