They're pretty good, an online sleaze kept my $500 for a wedding anniversary present. Then refunded me when FT came calling.

Shame them on Twitter.

Did they REALLY get $30 out of an account? Complain to the bank?

Maybe not… but….it’s the tip of an iceberg, one or two complaints may not get much attention, then more complaints come in and it will warrant time on an investigation.

The way it happened for this to happen, some marketing deceit that really puzzles me how they got into the account details to debit $30 a month.

So they must have set up a dodgy card screen which gives them access. That's how overseas online fraud-sales are done using a cheap offer to catch people's details. I cancelled my card in time but got a threatening phone call when they couldn't use it.

What never ceases to amaze me… whenever there’s a glitch it’s always in their favour!
Overcharging…. Items on special marked down but in their check out computer not noted.
I have to read my receipt every time before I leave to make sure it’s all correct.
It’s a lifelong habit to check and keep all receipts.
I’m astounded when I’m asked at a checkout “would you like a receipt?”
Of course I do! And I explain it like this - if they don’t ask me if I want receipt…
“Can I have a receipt please as I do monthly checks against my credit card”

We cannot reply on our memory if we can remember odd amounts or odd trading names and check our card account to wonder if it’s us that did spend that…or a glitch

I’m getting good at avoiding (maybe paranoid) with anything that involves marketing.
I get phone calls from unknown numbers, I look at it and can’t find the courage to answer it anymore.
I think, if it’s important, they can leave a message. But they never do.

I’ve gotten texts from Telstra or supposed to be for feedback but I won’t do it.
If anyone wants some info… it has to be face to face instore or if I ring them myself.

Be interesting to see how that double charge of Lisa’s going, and Felon’s $30 hopeful refund.

I had bought something from them previously, obviously they kept the payment details.

Another worrying aspect is that I dealt through Paypal. Time to have a chat with them too.

I see the BS the forum is being asked to believe.

I have been double charged for single transactions. I just deal with the problem through either the bank or the business.

I think the real question here that should be asked is: "How many bottles of Pantene did Lisa accidentally buy because she was too angry to think straight?"

The message from the hacking news is that the scammers are ahead of the institutions. Which is incredible when companies and the gov have the resources of experts.  Are company execs just too out of date and lazy?

scammers make money by having the latest ... that involves spending money
companies make money by reducing spending, that means they only go after the latest tech when they have no other choice.

it's a scammers dream

So far ... it’s STILL there. I’ll log into my bank account tomorrow morning and check again. Hopefully I’ll see a credit there. If the double charge still exists I’m unfortunately going to have to complete some online form.

Hopefully it won’t come to that 😩

Ok

1. As of this morning the double charge is still showing up in my online bank statement.

2. My bank has been contacted and they’ve emailed me the next steps in THE PROCESS.

Get this : I now need to complete an online Fraudulent Transaction form and NAME Big W as the organisation responsible for said fraud. Upon submission of this online form my bank’s fraud investigation team will then act on my behalf (initiate another set of procedures) to help get my money back into my account.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. All I did was go shopping. I always do a Big W online shop. Nothing about my routine wrt online shopping has changed.

I saw this little pearler recently  Grin

“I need everyone to wish me luck. I have a meeting at the bank later, and if all goes well I will be completely out of debt. I’m so excited I can barely put on my ski mask.”

It seems you are going about it the long way Lisa.
Have you contacted the supermarket/BigW store at all to let them know of their error?
