"A former cocaine kingpin with a “target on his back” has been shot dead in a shocking assassination at a carpark in the busy shopping area of Bondi Junction, police say.

The man was shot in what police believe was a targeted attack in an underground carpark off Spring Street near Bondi Junction Westfield before 8.30am on Tuesday.

He has not been formally identified by police, but is understood to be Alen Moradian, 48, a convicted cocaine kingpin who was considered to be a key member of the “Golden Gun” drug syndicate.

The Bondi Junction resident reportedly lived in the building above the car park where he was killed.

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty confirmed the man was a “major player” in the organised crime network, with an “extensive criminal history”.

He said police were aware the 48-year-old had “strong, high level links” to the Comanchero bikie gang.

The shooting victim is believed to be Alen Moradian the head of a rime syndicate that supplied large amounts of cocaine and laundered millions in drug money."
