imagine a society without abos

-not having to listen to their whining about how they're not geometrically equal with whites in every social and economic respect

-not having to be victimised by abo crime, abo street hoods, etc

-not having to spend an inordinate amount of money fixing what is in effect their intractable problems, and being able to use that money for something useful instead

sounds like paradise on earth

we need to make this happen. we have to get rid of abos

Only close family friends who have been nominated a such usually by your parents.

Indians call all their elders aunty

I'm not .... & you're not phukkin Indian.  Roll Eyes

Neither am I, but I get called 'Uncle' by many Indians for whom I am not what we would call an uncle.

You're married to one Shyster.

So........Indians not related to TIB even call me Uncle.

But that's the ridiculous idea behind the Aboriginal Voice - racial unity of part-Aborigines versus everyone else.

It is 'special' Sore End.  That is fact.  But, it is totally uncontroversial, and benign.  It is a recognition, not 'treatment.'  What do you not understand about that?  Are those who claim to be Uni Lecturers so dumb these days that such a simple concept is beyond them?

Of course within the black fella community there are many voices, just like there is in any community.  That is why The Voice is not to constituted by just one person, but by a range of people with diverse views just like we have in Parliament right now.

Even inside Caucuses there are different views, but that of the majority wins out.

SMH.

The Voice is not recognition.
Recognition in the constitution has bipartisan support and in fact was first proposed by Howard.
The Voice is an entirely different issue, it is a Constitutionally cemented ATSIC - a corrupt, politicised, totally useless and ineffective quango.

Even as a non-lawyer with a school certificate Arssie like you should be able to recognise the TWO things and the difference between them.

So do Filipino/a/s, as much as I tried to dissuade it. My own niece never called me uncle, just my name. We did as this as kids but I never passed it on to my kids.

Many cultures do. Surprisingly,  the English never picked it up

The Voice is NOT about recognition.
The referendum has TWO prongs in a single Yes/No choice - that's why it is a sneaky piece of con. Recognition has bipartisan support and was first proposed by Howard.
The Voicw in an entirely different issue and has no bipartisan support. Sneaky Albo combined them into a single referendum question. If it was separated into two separate referendum question the recognition would pass overwhelmingly and the Voice would be voted down comprehensively. That is why sneaky Albo combined them into a single referendum question. Sneaky and stupid. Like you.

Btw, you are way too thick to have ever been a lawyer. You couldn't reason your way out of a wet paper bag.

Tell me...what is the question you will be asked to answer in the Referendum with a yes/no?

To assist you...here:

Quote:
The question to be put to the Australian people at the 2023 referendum will be: "A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?"

Do you see the word 'recognise' in there Sore End?

Sneaky and thick are correct.

Referendum question
The question to be put to the Australian people at the 2023 referendum will be:

"A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

Do you approve this proposed alteration?"

Constitutional amendment
The proposed law that Australians are being asked to approve at the referendum would insert a new section into the Constitution:

"Chapter IX Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
129 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice

In recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia:

There shall be a body, to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice;
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to matters relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, including its composition, functions, powers and procedures.”
The Voice design principles
The Prime Minister also released the principles of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. You can read the detailed design principles here.

In summary, these principles are:

The Voice will give independent advice to the Parliament and Government
The Voice will be chosen by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people based on the wishes of local communities
The Voice will be representative of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, gender balanced and include youth
The Voice will be empowering, community-led, inclusive, respectful and culturally informed
The Voice will be accountable and transparent
The Voice will work alongside existing organisations and traditional structures
The Voice will not have a program delivery function
The Voice will not have a veto power.
These principles were developed by the First Nations Referendum Working Group and endorsed by the Australian Government.

If the proposed law is approved at the referendum, there will be a process with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, the Parliament, and the broader public to settle the Voice design. Legislation to establish the Voice will then go through standard parliamentary processes to ensure adequate scrutiny by elected representatives in both houses of Parliament.

After you’ve seen that word by all means please explain why that word is even there. At present do we not recognise the first people of Australia?

Abos have the vote like everyone else. They are equal. The Voice elevates them above everyone else.
Secondly, being an Abo is contested. Most of them are whiter than most Australians. Introducing race as a preferment is idiotic when it's not insidious.
To accept that Abos were here before 1788 is NOT the same as giving them (or rather their undemocratically selected whiter-than-thou activists) an additional say in how everyone's lives are governed. A woman with, say, a half Aboriginal grandmother has no special claim on Australian governments and institutions.

Race is at the heart of the Voice. But most Abos (3% of the population all up) are whiter than 25% of the population of Australia. An even larger proportion of the population has no British blood. And even those with British blood are not responsible for the 19th century.

Aborigines have more Voice already than any other segment of society. But no voice, no political body will be able to make Abos put the bottle down, look after their kids it es, stop clobber ou ng their wives and rape their nieces, etc, etc. There should be an Abiriginal Voice TO Aborigines that Aborigines would finally listen to and heed: stop drinking , stop acting like useless criminal scum, child abusers, layabouts, prison fodder, school dropouts and take responsibility for your own lives, FFS, like everyone else!!!

That's the Voice they need to hear. AND 80% of them heard and heeded it decades ago. It is that 80% that should be heard by the 20% of useless self-pitying bums.
