I also take the dog for a walk on the beach and have a swim in the winter. I don't like the water too warm anymore.

Also early winter the water isn't that cold. Water temp tends to lag air temp by several months. I find water temp is the lowest around November and it is still relatively warm up to maybe July August. This is of course influenced by water currents.

Coldest water I have been in was a Christmas day in the 1980's or 90's. Had christmas at Bondi and the water temp was 2 degrees. a cold current came up from the south, If you stepped into the water (40 degree day) it hurt and if up to your ankles your feet would be numb in 30 seconds. It was strange to be on Bondi beach on a 40 degree day with thousands of people on the beach and nobody in the water.

Back in the day change sheds were never heated and the shower stays hot for maybe 4 players. OK in the prime part of the game the exertion would keep you warm. Stoppages would be a challenge with a wet jumper from sweat combined with a cold wind blowing the chill factor would be maybe -5 deg. Not only that the ground would freeze and feel like concrete in a tackle, it would rip your skin to shreds. You may have 40 minutes before the game to contend with and 30 minutes after the game.

The princesses in first grady maybe got looked after a bit better but nobody else did.

Very frequently had a compulsory event after a game and a debrief on the game in some teams. nobody went home to shower on these days. I don't remember anyone ever going home to shower but I suspect it likely did happen.  You also had 3 nights of training when it was even colder and very stop start on occasion. We all did it so it wasn't unbearable but it was challenging.

Were at a beach yesterday, Socks off–lead, no jumper.

She ran on the dunes, on the beach, in the sea.

Both my millennial kids know of him and do what he recommends. Swimming in cold water, certain breathing exercises etc.
He’s a real marvel and I do admire the guy! I might do tepid cool water after a hot shower but that’s it!
When I was younger… our school in mid winter took us kids to the coldest unheated pool in the whole world! It was high up in Olinda (where it snows) and that water was freeze balls temp!
Now I’m thinking it probably did us more good than we knew!

Nicest thing I have seen with seagulls was one night when prawning with my daughter there was a mother seagull swimming around with a brood of babies. The were seagulls but about 4 or 5 inches in size, they were the cutest little things. First time I have realised that I have never seen a baby seagull before. They obviously go out around midnight.

Some dogs shed continuously throughout their life, and others on a more seasonal or cyclical basis – this is known as moulting.

Golden Retrievers shed continuously. And I think that’s why they don’t have a thick coat. They also have longer thinner hair though compared to their 1st cousins - the Labradors.

Trust me ... these dogs SHED their fur non stop. I’m forever vacuuming and mopping. 😩😔

In Sydney the Temperature is about 7 degrees but the water temperature is almost 20 degrees.

In Melbourne the temp is 4 degrees but the water temperature is at 13 degrees.

Ok I’m gonna have to fess...it’s not just the spitefully cold water that I’m scared of....what about the 🦈 🦈???

My parents have two dogs that are accustomed to warmer weather. And whilst I know that winter around these parts lasts for about 2 weeks on average, it does get pretty cold at night during the winter. That is why Mum and Dad bought the dogs their own tents covering their beds. Plus, they get to put jackets on at night.

Dare I say that Monk would be wise enough to be making arrangements so that Socks does not get cold at all during the freezing nights.
