Give a small piece to the cat.
Cats won't eat meat that is off -
that's always been the best test I've ever had.

Vac packed gives very high shelf life. I will visit the bulk butcher soon and buy a heap of meat, vac pack it. When I get my pressure canner I can can like bulk curried meat/veg.

Why would you pay over $50 for 2 steaks with bone in .... which you can't eat.

And forget using "because I can" as a reason.

Take the bone weight out & you're paying more than $50 a kilo.

I'll buy a whole rib fillet - cut thick - for $50 a kilo but not with bone in.

I don't buy it - I choose other food.

In the 1990s I used to feed my cat porterhouse steak 4 days per week.
I could get a nice lump of it for about $6 from the supermarket for her.
Not anymore - the price of beef is ridiculous.
My cat ate better than most people today.
She lived till 18 years old!
