Northern Territory Police have arrested a 42-year-old man after a serious harm incident in Alice Springs overnight.
At 10:45pm, police received reports that a 44-year-old female presented to Alice Springs Hospital with significant injuries, including a suspected broken arm and a serious laceration to her head.
Southern Crime with assistance from Southern Drone, Dog Operations and general duties officers attended a residence in Hidden Valley Town Camp, where a crime scene was established.
The alleged offender was arrested a short distance away after attempting to flee from police. He remains in custody and is assisting with enquiries.

Low IQ; there aren't enough jobs ANYWHERE, in Adelaide or the Alice or ...anywhere. You want Adelaide's  unemployed  to move en masse to..... where, exactly?  The number of unemployed is larger than the number of job vacancies, across all of Oz.

Maybe try those aged care facilities looking for assistants in nursing. An 8-week training course. Then a 3 week practical course. Near guarantees a job at the end of it.

Mining companies require people for a wide range of jobs in relation to the company. I knew of a family in town here that owned a mechanic shop. They were doing great business. But they packed up and headed west to mining areas to make even more money.

Fruit picking is always in demand. Cleaners are always in demand. And you can always walk into a job at fast food places around the area.

Excellent suggestion for those with the ncessary aptitude (natural ability), 'people skills' are vital. Not suitable for all unemployed.

They already had skills and money....and choices.

Nah-na-nah-nah-nah-nah. Indigenous people already have the ability to adapt to modern lifestyles. Don't be racist. They are capable of being able to look after the elderly.

Indigenous people live off the royalties of mining profits.

Rock up to a fast food joint. Get the skills of running a fast food franchise. Then you can work your way up to professional standards to be employable in other industries. I know of people that worked as supervisors as 16 year olds that are earning 5-figure salaries in franchisee positions today.

The nation either provides work for all or it doesn't. All your 'go get a job' narrative is ...nonsense.

I already linked "thousands locked out of employment as entry level jobs disappear...".

Conservatives dion't understand the macroeconomy. They think  if one person can get a job, then everyone can get a job.

This is not a matter of one job per every ten job seekers. Australia is experiencing one of the lowest rates of unemployment at the moment. Go where the jobs are.

It is a matter of entry-level jobs disappearing, as addressed in the linked article, and as for 1 to 10, see below.

Quote:

https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/labour/employment-and-unemployment/potential-w...

Key statistics
In February 2022, there were 20.7 million people in the usually resident civilian population who were aged 15 years or over, of whom:

13.4 million were employed.
1.8 million were not working but wanted to work (potential workers).

quick google:

How many jobs are there available in Australia?
Total job vacancies were 438,500, a decrease of 1.5% from November 2022,  on 30 Mar 2023

ie, 1.8 million wanting to work cf c. half a million jobs available (even without considering the issue of lack of training for the available job)

Good luck.....

Violence has erupted in Alice Springs where hundreds of people were involved in riotous behaviour that left buildings and cars damaged and forced workers to barricade themselves inside.

Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson told Sky News Australia he had never seen violence escalate to the level seen on Tuesday afternoon.

“I can’t describe to you what yesterday felt like in Alice Springs,” he told Pete Stefanovic on First Edition.  “It was hundreds of people gathered, going through the CBD starting at one end and working their way through. There’s terrible vision of 200 people walking across the bridge yesterday with weapons, coming into the CBD.  It was very frightening and I’ve got absolutely no more descriptive words to describe what we’re living in any more.”

Up to 70 people stormed the Todd Tavern about 3:30pm, forcing staff to barricade themselves inside.

Video footage obtained by Sky News shows people running and trying to kicking in the hotel’s doors.  A woman can be seen throwing rocks at the windows.

Dozens of cars parked near the hotel had their windows smashed and panels damaged.

Witnesses told Sky News people were walking through the car park armed with crowbars and other weapons, smashing anything in sight.  Later that evening, witnesses say up to 200 people were involved in fighting at the Hidden Valley town camp.

“There were a few hundred people in the CBD yesterday and they weren’t there to check the weather mate, it was very uncomfortable,” Mr Paterson said.  “I’ve never felt like that in Alice Springs in my life.”

Mr Paterson said police were hopelessly out-numbered. He said the situation had escalated to a point where it was beyond the control of the Northern Territory Government, and called for the Federal Government to step in an restore control.

“I’ve had enough.  With all respect to the Northern Territory Government and Opposition they just need to move out of the way now.  I’ve asked for the Federal Government to step in before, I’ve asked for the AFP and the Army.  We have shown that we are not mature enough to lead ourselves as  a jurisdiction.  The Territory Government need to remove themselves and we need the Federal Government to step in and be under the control of the Federal Government.  There’s nothing else for us to do here.  We just want to be safe.”

“First Nations finest. To think the government wanted to give them a say in what we can do”  “Welcome to country”
