Ron D's done
Apr 22nd, 2023 at 11:30am

Quote:
Ron DeSantis is flaming out – and Trump is on course for a Republican coronation

The Ron DeSantis boomlet is done. He consistently trails Donald Trump by double-digits. A Wall Street Journal poll out Friday pegs Florida’s governor in severe retrograde, slipping 27 points since December. DeSantis mistakenly conflates his campaign’s bulging war chest with adulation. Wrong!

He forgot that working-class Americans dominate the Republican party and that mien matters. Voting to gut social security comes with fatal backlash, and eating pudding with your fingers is gross. Said differently, largesse from the party’s donor base coupled with little else is a losing recipe.

Charles Koch has but a single vote and David Koch is gone. Before he goes any further, DeSantis needs to be reminded of past campaign flame-outs – Jeb Bush, John Connally and Mike Bloomberg – if he is to avoid their inglorious endings.

DeSantis to meet UK foreign secretary with eye on US presidential bid
In 2016, Trump bludgeoned Bush to an early primary exit. His name recognition bought a ton of campaign donations but little else. A son and brother to presidents and a grandson to a US senator, Bush left the race with a grand total of four convention delegates and zero primary victories.

He sat in the Florida governor’s mansion between 1999 and 2007. The gig doesn’t scream springboard.

Connally is another cautionary tale. Lee Harvey Oswald seriously wounded him as he was riding with President Kennedy that fateful November day in Dallas. Fast forward, Ronald Reagan left Connally in the dust in 1980.

The jut-jawed former Texas governor garnered just a single convention delegate after parting with $500,000 from his own pockets and nearly $12m from everyone else’s.

And then there’s Mayor Bloomberg. He dropped $900m of his own money, netted 58 delegates and a lone victory – American Samoa. As a coda, he tussled with campaign staff over unpaid wages.

If primaries were held tomorrow, DeSantis would probably suffer beatings in New Hampshire, Georgia and South Carolina, and lags in Florida. And if he can’t win in the Sunshine state, he is not likely to win anywhere else.

Home-state losses are fatal. Just ask Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar. Joe Biden resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Warren and Klobuchar continue to toil in the Senate.

Don’t expect DeSantis to regain traction any time soon. He has not benefited from Trump’s legal woes. DeSantis also remains plagued by a likability deficit, and his war on “woke” is beginning to bite him.

When news broke in March of Trump’s indictment, DeSantis reflexively rushed to his defense. In the moment, he accused Alvin Bragg, Manhattan’s district attorney, of pushing an “un-American” political “agenda”. DeSantis also stood ready to fight Trump’s extradition to New York, a meaningless gesture. Trump voluntarily surrendered days later.

Subsequently, DeSantis took a swipe at Trump’s extracurricular hobbies, but it was too little, too late. Subtlety doesn’t work on Trump. To be the man, you need to beat the man.

This coming week, E Jean Carroll’s defamation and sexual assault civil case against Trump begins in a Manhattan courtroom. Trump is noncommittal about attending. Expect the infamous Access Hollywood tape to be re-aired. The circus is back.

Regardless, there is no indication that DeSantis will have much to say about any of that. Whether Casey DeSantis, his wife, offers any empathetic words for Ms Carroll or Melania Trump is also unknown. A former television broadcaster, Casey DeSantis knows how to wield a shiv with a smile, not a snarl.

On that score, DeSantis’s lack of social skills has cost him plenty. At Politico, the headline blares: “How to lose friends and alienate people, by Ron DeSantis.”

This past week, his gambit to woo Florida’s House Republicans flopped. He flew up to Washington only to be met by a passel of Trump endorsements.

“A great group of supportive Florida Congressmen and Congresswomen, all who have Endorsed me, will be coming to Mar-a-Lago,” the 45th president posted. “Our support is almost universal in Florida and throughout the USA.”

Trump takes the time to wine, dine and threaten. DeSantis can’t be bothered. Voters in early primary states expect to be stroked or entertained. The governor appears incapable of doing either.

Last, Disney is fighting back, to DeSantis’s chagrin and Trump’s delectation. To burnish his stock with social conservatives, DeSantis attempted to put the torch to one of his state’s biggest business and largest employers. By contrast, when Trump taunted the National Football League, he was playing with other people’s money.

Right now, Mickie, Minnie and Trump are winning. The path to the 2024 Republican nomination looks ever more like a coronation.

Suck on that, leftards. The big fella gets to jet in, make America great and do his little disco dance at the end. Ron D's done.

Forget everything the gang said about shifting over to Ron D. Now they switch straight back to their old Dear Leader without so much as a blink.

Watch them turn on Ron Desanctimoniius as a cold-blooded fake. You'll see. Mr Trump's back and calling the shots from here on in.

Ever get the feeling you've been farmed?

I don't think Trump can win 50%+1 against Biden.

Imagine the collapse in American esteem around the globe, if Trump reversed the transition to a renewable economy.

Criminal defendant Trump can't win the general election, but he'll definitely be the GOP candidate.

As I've said on numerous occasions, if the Republicans don't nominate him as their candidate he will destroy everything in his path.

Meatball Ron never had a chance.

But hey, what about Nikki Haley?    Grin

Alas, Meister, Sleepy Joe's got an uphill battle with the transition to a renewable economy. Americans were traditionally able to respond to these kinds of shifts. Industrialisation, the end of slavery, immigration, two world wars, the transition to a consumer industrial economy, the transition to a post-industrial service economy. Political leaders such as Lincoln, Eisenhower and Clinton have been instrumental in these transitions.

Today, America is in the grip of a nihilistic political death cult. This doesn't drive all of America, but it's seriously dented the sides. The GOP is now largely incapable of acting constructively and getting things done.

The McCains of the party, those on the legislative committees and tasked with getting things done, have gone. The new GOP, now in the grip of the Marjorie Taylor Greenes, is just out to destroy.

This week, we saw Fox News conceed and make amends for knowingly broadcasting lies. These were serious lies too - they aimed to undermine the democratic process. They convinced close to a quarter of American voters that the 2020 election had been stolen and the current leadership is illegitimate.

Fox is industrial-scale political propaganda. It's the largest, highest-rating news network in a country of 332 million people. It makes over $14 billion a year. It is integrated into an international print media arm that drives the global news cycle. And now, Fox acknowledges what we always knew.

It is an empire based on lies.

That's what Sleepy Joe's up against, Great. No past president has had to contend with such a destructive force. Trump, sure - but he was on the receiving end. Fox lied for Trump. In so doing, it undermined the entire political system.

Obama had to deal with it too - hence his own inability to enact his reforms, hence his watered-down legislative attempts. In the end, Obama wasn't even able to appoint a supreme court judge - forget appoint, the GOP wouldn't even accept a nomination.

Obama's Republican opposition was massaged, nurtured and amplified by Fox. There on Fox, every Friday morning, was Donald J Trump, prattling away about his Kenyan investigators uncovering shocking new details of Obama's African origins. And there was the ernest panel of seasoned broadcasters and journalists, nodding along, agreeing.

In the end, Fox was not able to secure a second election win for Trump. Not after a pandemic scale litany of leadership failure, not after the death toll, the job losses, the lies laid bare and the acknowledgement that, sure, he'd lied about covid and would do it again.

Instead, Fox joined Trump in propagating the big lie - that Trump had actually won and had the election rigged against him. Fox sacked the broadcaster who called Arizona. It enabled Carlson, Hannity and Pirro to spruik the big lie nightly, hours of prime time commentary devoted to vote dumps, rigged online voting machines, foreign interference and an ongoing barrage of fake news devoted to undermining the democratic process.

Dominion recieved $786 million in compensation for those lies. The damage to the process is incalculable.

America is the country that won its revolution, two world wars and, for better or worse, transformed the world in its image. It met great depressions and recessions and turned them around too. But today, I'm not so sure it can rise to meet those challenges. America has been subjected to a hostile foreign takeover that has undermined its very existence.

It would be nice to think that presidents like Joe Biden just need to go back to negotiating with legislators in good faith, but America is beyond that now. The big lie exposes just how far some are prepared to go to destroy the political process. How do you go back to work after that? How do you sit down and try to deal with people that you know have lied, and they know you know?

It's impossible. Without a re-commitment to honesty, America is doomed. While Fox continues to broadcast, the political process will be sabotaged, time and time again.

Plenty just run for the cache. Look at Trump. All he ever wanted was the brand recognition, he never wanted the presidency.

The primaries - sure. He wanted to show every one of those low-energy political chumps.

But the big fella had no plans for office. He had no real policies, no political convictions or standpoints. His stance was a list of Republican gripes Steve Bannon and Roger Ailes ran him through:

Gotta be pro-life - life's good, right?

Death penalty - bad, no good. They almost tricked him there.

Crime - bad. Nobody likes crime.

Jesus - good. Just no details, it's highly personal.

Second Amendment? Er... Oh, guns - good.

All Dear Leader ever wanted to do was prove his political stripes. He would then get more gigs on Fox or maybe CNN as a serious political commentator and who knows? He might even start his own network, like Oprah did. He could go into business with Steve.

Then, whoops - he won.

trump, and biden are both too old.

trump could easily end up in the coronary care unit
joe could end up in the dementia unit.

Ron can wait it out.

You're jumping back already, dear. You sense the order from on high as quick as the next cult follower.

We remember when your latest guy was a general called Stanley McChrystal. That lasted what - a day?

You're back under Dear Leader already, and you'll happily wave the Trump flag until 2025. You'll say your lines, you'll do exactly what you're told. Big fella good, leftards baaaaad.

Your Dear Leader will get done for corporate fraud, rape, election interference, records theft, insurrection and instigating a deadly riot, but that's just warming up. He may well get done for much worse, but it won't touch the sides.

After all, you're currently excusing Putin for war crimes. Your Dear Leader could be accused of genocide and you'd be all good. Anything to trigger the leftards.

You'll say whatever you're told to say, but do you know? You always put your unique take on it.

If there's one thing that never ceases to amaze me, dear, it's the creativity of the human imagination.

incorrect.

the best thing that could happen would be for a trans democrat to assasinate trump.

then he goes down as a martyr (the big fella would rather die with his boots on then become like Joe metamucil) and ron gets to deliver the euology and whip people into an anti woke frenzy.

Maybe you could get Murdoch to arrange it and then he can blame it all on Hillary.  Imagine the headlines across the globe for months on end. The democrats would be finished forever  Cheesy

That is exactly what it would take to make RonDa a chance.

If the republicans want a MAGA the only option is the real thing Trump.

What the Republicans need is a republican leader and that isn't either Trump or RonDa.

Ronda may even be a worse choice than Trump. Burn the Books, Traffic refugees, take over the schools and such. Where Trump is looking for the profits and is inadvertently nasty and incompetent RonDa is just deliberately nasty. To RonDa his greatest enemy is the biggest employer in his state. Aquascoot doesn't genuinely care about Ron D, but to be fair, no one does.

They're just political advertorial. Ron D, Stanley McChrystal, Dear Leader, the lot. You're just meant to virtue signal them from time to time, that's all.

you are sort of right there.

politics is "low vibration energy"
a lot of crap-talking, lying, gossiping, hypocrisy.

but its very addictive , the drama of it all.

its like any reality TV show.
you just get to see the drama and not the slog.
and any politician who is a hard working slogger at his desk trying to get stuff done is ignored and the public "vote them out"

the assholes and drama queens win on big brother, the batchelor, farmer wants a wife and in washington

so any one who gets too emotionally invested in "the real housewives of washington" is just wasting their time

anyone, who, say , focused on trump non stop is just spinning their wheels.

trump, biden, hunter, hilary, epstein..good guys and bad guys like a batman movie.

donuts, coca cola, porn, gossiping, alcohol whinging online, complaining, computer games , trans issues, the voice, CRT, guns

its all a drama contructed by those with power to keep the chode stuck in low vibration energy.

they eat bad food, they dont exercise, they have no sense of their sexual powers, they do a lame job they hate and they vibe with media BS.

people dont need to be controlled.
they are their own jailors.
stuck in a prison of their own making
living the life of the "inferior man"
