Wow, an issue I wasn’t aware of but had seen some extreme-right and/or conspiracy theories nonsense about.

Too many animals in Holland! Cows, pigs and chickens eating imported wheat and soy etc, pooping out manure far too high in nutrients. Spreading this over the fields to fertilise them too much nutrient content is left over and is washed into streams damaging the conservation areas.

Tiny Holland is the world’s second biggest food exporter after the US! So you can see it practices very intensive agriculture. Now this has caused Holland to be in breach of EU law and the Dutch government wants to buy out some farmers to reduce the problems.

Can the Dutch grow enough grass and hay to feed their cows? Not at present numbers and densities of animals.
