Working from the position that Indonesia is not, never has been and never will be our friend, the best we can hope for out of this is that we can use them as a speed bump in the event of a Chinese military push southwards and we do not give them too much in return.

We are allied to Indonesia and  have been for approximately 30 years.  We have had disagreements in the past but that was before we signed a treaty with them.  They are our bastion to the North-West and North.  We are very much in their hands as far as aggression from the PRC are concerned.
