It was the 'Free Settlers' with their Freedom of having the Right to own a gun that started shooting all the Aborigines.
The British even had to put up plaques showing that 'Whites' will be hung too, for murdering Abos.
Even during the Tasmanian genocide by Settlers. The British Troopers were forced to act and grudgingly do so.

During the first period of the colony in Sydney - the colony is recognised as being one of the most harmonious in history with natives.

Don't blame the Brits. They were hard on the Convicts (rapists, murderers, paedophiles, cannibals, etc) regardless if they were drunk Irish who didn't want the responsibility of being in charge of their own fates.

Blame those and their right to own a gun.
