You should give the (english version) Divine Comedy by Dante a go.

It's a story that has probably influenced 90% of all best selling books and stories around the world.

Warning: it is based on the Catholic interpretation though.
But I'm sure your Protestant conviction will prevent you from any insecurities of converting if you dare read it. Wink
