RIP Renee Geyer

Another major artist gone, way too soon.

Australian soul singer Renee Geyer dies aged 69

In a statement, Geyer's family said the singer passed away from complications following hip surgery.

"While in hospital, it was discovered that Renee also had inoperable lung cancer," the statement read.

"She was in no pain and died peacefully amongst family and friends.

Terribly sad.

I used to go see Renee play live, in pubs, back in the '80s.

She was fantastic live, and always had a great band.

One vivid memory is when I saw her performing in Byron Bay, in the mid '80s I think.

I was watching her from the bar in a small pub, and as soon as she finished her set she jumped off stage, ran to the bar, pushed me out of the way and yelled at the bartender to get her a beer - "Quick!".

She was great  Smiley
