Recipe calls for a LARGE pot.

Have an 11L stockpot. If that is not enough have a 17L ss pan I bought for $20 many years ago for part mash lessons that will do. If that is not enough I have two 50L Cobley ginger beer kegs! (Cobley went out of business yonks ago.)

So let's say you have a wife and 4 kids - that makes 6 meals to provide for dinner.

each Coles steak costs $26 so the meal would cost $156.00.

Those steaks are big at 330 grams -
so lets' say you cut 3 in half and use those.
That is still 3 x $26 = $78.00 for one dinner.

I wonder why people are not having kids these days?

Google AI:

Coles' motto is "Helping Australians eat and live better every day".
This motto is part of their overarching purpose and is the foundation
for their current marketing and brand positioning.
Prior to this, Coles used the slogans "Value the Australian Way" and
"Good Things Are Happening at Coles".

Back in the 1990s steak was cheap enough that my
cat ate rump steak 4 to 5 days per week.
The other days she had tinned fish.
She lived till 18.

Nowadays you couldn't afford to feed a family rump steak
yet alone eye fillet steak from Coles.

Don't eat steak.

Have some beans instead.

Coles Beans 4 Bean Mix | 420g
$1.10
$2.62 per 1kg

Ten kilos of beans for the price of one steak.

Your body will thank you.

Beans are a very healthy food due to their high content of plant-based protein, fiber, essential vitamins, and minerals, which support gut health, heart health, and weight management. They can also help improve blood sugar control, lower cholesterol, and potentially reduce the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers.

For fathers day, I decided I don't want to go to a restaurant, instead we'll get a couple of pizzas delivered from a very good local place, hit a premium Italian deli and get an antipasto plate and cook a few steaks.

Maybe

Treat yourself to one of these, with some Dijon mustard and cucumber.

That steak is too fatty.

What is wrong with La moutarde aux fines herbes de Dijon?
Are you a peasant?

I love good wagyu, but Bobs is correct in that it's too fatty and rich to have as a plate full of steak. One of those wagyu cuts could be divided up into 4 serves. For fathers day, I want a caveman sized steak on my plate for myself.
