I am practically a vegetarian because of cost.

Bit of pancetta gives nice meaty flavor.

Once I have my kitchen set up might cook a bit more meat—a beef rendang be good. Once the house is painted etc will do some fishing and get some chooks for eggs etc.

There are also bulk or wholesale butchers—buy a half or quarter cow for big savings over Coles etc.

Or look for cheaper cuts, cook them a bit longer, tastier than steak!

How do you feed that dog of yours?

I put food in its bowl and she eats it.

Hint for the mentally deficient: I do not buy her steak! Chicken necks $5/Kg etc

Being from the beef capital of Australia, I must be getting steaks for discounted prices. Woolworths do not seem to be selling steaks of any kind for more than $40/kg.

Get her some Coles eye fillet.

She'd love it.

That's a better than $70 per kilo.   Shocked

Found a Macro Organic Beef Porterhouse Steak for $55/kg. Premium Wagyu Beef Sirloin Steak $75/kg. But generally, prices are fairly low. $28/kg for a rump steak.

nah - we get ripped off for food.
The supermarkets pay small prices to the farmers for food
and make huge markups.

On the rare occasion I'm overcome with the urge to eat a dead animal I make sure the butcher, farmer or whoever has treated them with respect while alive and not subjected them to animal concentration camp type trauma leading to their end.
