What does that say about the risk assessment the cops did before going in?    Embarrassed

There probably was none ... The Sargent at Tara cop shop must be feeling a bit embarrassed right now - sending green rookies out there ... perhaps the Sarg should have gone with them, give them a bit of training on the job.

He must be feeling so bad today but he didn't know.

He/(she?) should get the sack then

That Katrina Carroll should be sacked too, and get a tough bloke to do that job ... also sack the Police minister for not providing more funding for research into Police tactics and risk assessment - for all jobs

Silly Katrina Carroll said it was a "normal job" [to go to that property] ... except it wasn't in the big city where she comfortably lives and works

You can just look at the state of someone's teeth to know that it is highly likely that they are into drugs. Without accurately knowing all the details, I can only guess that the neighbour went to investigate the shooting. If you have ever heard gunfire in real life, it can be confusing as to what it is that is happening. I could imagine the neighbour went to investigate the shooting; was spotted; turned to run back to his house; and was shot in the back.

Neighbours usually don't have each other's telephone numbers. If you heard gunshots, you would not normally phone your neighbours to ask if they are okay. A normal reaction would be to look outside to find the source of the popping sounds.

I'd say you are 100% correct there.

Yes.

Except he was investigating a fire, not gunshots.

“He went to help the neighbours ‘cause he thought there was a fire and heard bangs like maybe the house was on fire."

“He’s gone down to investigate and must’ve realised something was up because the smoke wasn’t coming from the house.”

Alan was gunned down, shot in the back from 150m, never knowing the extent of the horror that was unfolding.

According to that statement, it seems that the neighbour was investigating the sounds of gunfire, perhaps mistakenly thinking of fire creating popping sounds. Two of the four police in attendance fled the scene. The fire was started to draw the officer(s) out of the bushland. Two officers were already shot dead by that point.

Really?  Amazing revelation.  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Well, what? It had already been stated in the news that the two officers had been shot dead. A curious neighbour would have likely come out to see what was causing the noise. And it would have taken a while for the fire to burn enough smoke that it caused noise and a smell to prompt people to think that a fire was burning.

greggery jumped to some guess that the neighbour was out trying to locate where the fire was coming from because of the noise.

I wonder what it was that changed them from being radical leftwing teachers, to being violent sovereign citizens? They could've had all the social security handouts they'd ever want. They should have remained lefties

I'm finding it hard to accept that the woman would take up a .22 ..... beggars belief that someone would do that in a 'shootout' ... TF are y6ou going to do with a .22? ..... but ... who knows.

I'm guessing she was shot in the 'hundreds of rounds' exchanged or perhaps even sniped... wrong place, wrong time.. wrong bloke(s)...

Yes, agree with the lot.

I just highlighted that as it is part of the story.
Agree with the lot pal.
Like I've posted.

Whoa back, Pilgrim - doesn't mean any of the conjecture put out before was right or that he shouldn't express his views...  it's not like we're going to ever see a definitive answer to all that happened.  The best witnesses would be the two surviving cops.

Today we find out the Trains were 'sovereign citizen' ideologues.

Deluded 'individual natural rights' (which don't exist in nature)/ self-interested  liberal 'freedom values' (which conveniently favour the most competitive among us) nutcases.

Obviously not restrained in any way by the contact with One Nation's Mark Lathan.
