There needs to be an independent inquiry into the whole tragedy.
Nothing is making any sense.

For a start, I think most of the farmers in QLD are armed.

They are also looking for one of the brothers who basically lost contact / disappeared apparently out of character.  So naturally, the police would suspect perhaps some foul play.

Incorrect .. most have firearms... that does not mean they are armed.....

you would find that farmers all over the country own fire arms.

The murderers in question were actually armed & intended to kill Police.

You shouldn't confuse the two.

I have a weapons license & own an old .22 cal rifle.

It's locked away in the shed in a gun safe.

I am not armed. Roll Eyes

2-3 of them were inexperienced.... probably getting their bones from a simple check under supervision from a more senior.  Obviously, only armed with pistols, they were not prepared for any shootout.

Why were the offenders ready, armed and wearing militia style clothing?  That's your question(s).

I would guess that 4 cops went there because they suspected there could be trouble.

Could be something more 'back home' in Dubbo...

What does that mean?

That's where Nathaniel Train lived, it where he was reported missing from. ... & I'd say his brother lived there at one time.

Don't you read the articles/links you post?

Nearly 100 per cent of students at Walgett Community College, the senior school to Walgett Community College Primary School, are Indigenous and the school has well documented problems with student violence.

Ms Mitchell said Mr Train had provided “anecdotal information” about surveys being completed with one-on-one assistance from support teachers at the primary school.

“Some students, including those with either lower literacy levels or who present with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD), may need further explanations to better understand some Tell Them From Me questions,” she said.

Mr Latham also asked whether parents had requested the creation of a “suspension room at the school so that ‘they don’t have their kids at home’”.
...

One Nation NSW leader Mark Latham said Mr Train left Walgett primary school after suffering a heart attack and said the slain principal’s experience with the education department had left him bitter and bruised.

“He was a passionate school reformer who had to leave for a health reason but was determined for his work [at Walgett Community College Primary School] to go on and was disappointed when it didn’t,” said Mr Latham.

Mr Latham disputed reports that the emails Mr Train sent to the education department indicated a decline in the former principal’s mental health.

“He contacted me as a passionate and concerned former principal whose sole motivation was the best interest of Indigenous kids and he had documentation that supported his complaint,” he said.

Maybe there is something back there he didn't want to come back to.

Why on earth would he and his bro etc start shooting out of the blue?

Well - to throw another hat in the ring - that part of Queenslund - and Walgett - is part of what is known as the Deep North - not a very nice place for Aborigines in many ways.

Who knows?

Their father looks very white, so it must be their mother's side... no idea if they ever 'lived the life' etc... maybe their ethnic mix had nothing to do with it, so WTF.. all THREE of them went the rat at the same time.......

And BTW, Brian - you have no credibility in commenting on what other people post when you fill up strand after strand with your yawning and tsk tsk-ing. So stick it in ya!!

Now apologise to Boris...... you and Sad Kangaroo...

A mild-mannered school principal as well...

Boris deserves no such thing.  He is a well-documented racist piece of sh
it
and I think it perfectly valid to criticise him for it.

Was I too quick in this case to reply to him without first fact-checking, sure, but after posting I checked and realised my mistake and edited the post in all of 30 seconds.

But honestly, given how he accuses every Indigenous Australian as being a being murdering child rapists to cast them as subhumans and unworthy of anything other than sending the army in to kill them all in the streets (with yourself being slightly better and wanting only 90% of them killed by the army) it's usually a safe bet that if he's commenting on the subject of Indigenous Australians in untrue, hyper exaggerated or generalised upon the entire community to push his prejudiced agenda.

In this case, he was actually correct, hence the edit.

I'm just waiting for his next post trying to manufacture a correlation where none exists, but it's only a matter of time.

Child abuse and mistreatment in Aboriginal communities are endemic and worsening by the year. Here’s a few snapshots:

Rates of hospitalisation for neglect and abandonment among indigenous children have been put at thirty to eighty times higher than for the non-indigenous population.

More than 12,000 Aboriginal children have been removed and are in care, making up a third of all Australian children in care.

One in nineteen Aboriginal children is in care, ten times the non-indigenous rate.

In Queensland, one in every 2.2 Aboriginal children is known to Child Safety, and this is expected to increase to every second child being known to Child Safety this fiscal year. In 2007–08, only one in 4.6 Aboriginal children was known to Child Safety.

Yet under-reporting of the sexual abuse of Aboriginal children may be nearly 90 per cent.

Hopefully Albo will announce a federal independent inquiry tomorrow -
we can't trust the QLD police to do it.
The whole thing makes no sense at all.

I heard his father say on the news he hasn't seen his son for 25 years.

I saw a video which had what sounded like a semi auto centrefire rifle. The neighbors reported hearing semi auto gunfire why has this suddenly dropped out of the news.

It's not the first time illegal firearms were used to kill police in Qld.

I have heard they had quite a few firearms and a large stockpile of ammo. The police would know if it was legally owned every firearm owner is in the Crimtrac database despite the fact they're not criminals.

Was it an ambush or were they worried they were getting busted for illegal firearms and decided to shoot it out?
