Gawd...it is NOT remote and the terrain was flat as a pan cake!

They were looking for a missing person, an innocuous thing, but.....but.....but....there is a question as to why, given such an apparently innocuous thing...why FOUR coppers (likely TWO cop cars) needed to go there for such a banal routine thing.  They may have expected some growls, no cups of tea and scones, but obviously not of the kind they were met with.

That’s what I was wondering too… why 4 cops?
Then lucky there was… as 2 would’ve been dead and cops wouldn’t have known for ages…
At least one cop with bullet in leg was able to get to car to immediately alert authorities code… whatever
And to have an extraction team come save the female cop hiding in bush.

It’s a dark sad day the way all this took place.
Sad for those 2 young officers losing their lives.
I read the young female only just joined the force?
We have a cop friend that’s now a court prosecutor… he used to be our neighbour.
He saw how athletic and fit our daughter was and would say she should join the police force.
We did start the process… then I thought… it’s such a negative job.. always facing uncertainty or drop kicks etc.

why 4 cops?

There needs to be an independent inquiry into the whole tragedy.
Nothing is making any sense.

1. Aussie that IS remote and rough terrain IMO! I'm from bloody Sydney remember. I live in a city of 6.6 million people 👈 for me THAT is normal.

2. The police knew about the extreme conspiracy theories (from social media) and in fact THAT is what kick started the concern for the welfare of the former school principal who allegedly went off grid (in a derelict house with bugger all solar panels).

3. Now add the fact that there were FOUR police officers involved in attending the premises. That suggests that they did expect action. Now if you reckon (you're a QLDer) that firearms are a normal thing in that area then the QLD police officers ought to have known that too. When you start aggregating these safety risks you end up with a lot of red flags. (Right now I'm starting to think there's another DUMBGold around who works in the QLD police force and who did not do his due diligence wrt ensuring the health and safety of his staff out in the field).

Bottom line? These 4 police officers should have been sent forward ready for ANY/EVERY contingency. That means they should have been wearing a bullet proof vest.

Edit : And you want to know another reason why I'm sticking to my bottom line? 2 of the 4 police officers were young rookies!

Lisa Jones, you are expert at dressing up trivia as though it is rocket science.

And.....all four cops were rookies of about two years + - experience.

Just like with new school teachers, here in Qld, young coppers are sent to rural communities where things are normally pretty laid back.

Aussie my point is this : Forget about generalities...the series of red flags which should have been picked up in THIS scenario is what we're discussing. And that's what really matters. You can't generalise. One other thing : the crime rates of MANY rural areas out that way are high. I've checked.

Aussie I'm not going to look up anything in that link. Do you want to know why?

2 reasons.

1. I need to grab the dinner out of the oven. And I need to set the table.

2. The data and map in your link is 23 freaking years OLD?? 😐

For a start, I think most of the farmers in QLD are armed.

They are also looking for one of the brothers who basically lost contact / disappeared apparently out of character.  So naturally, the police would suspect perhaps some foul play.

Hey, have you guys seen the mass crazies commenting on Skynews Australia channel about this?  50% of comments stating that the QLD police deserve this!

Australia is doomed!

Nothing would have changed since then.  This is Qld...not Chicago.

Now apologise to Boris...... you and Sad Kangaroo...

A mild-mannered school principal as well...

Boris deserves no such thing.  He is a well-documented racist piece of sh

and I think it perfectly valid to criticise him for it.

Was I too quick in this case to reply to him without first fact-checking, sure, but after posting I checked and realised my mistake and edited the post in all of 30 seconds.

But honestly, given how he accuses every Indigenous Australian as being a being murdering child rapists to cast them as subhumans and unworthy of anything other than sending the army in to kill them all in the streets (with yourself being slightly better and wanting only 90% of them killed by the army) it's usually a safe bet that if he's commenting on the subject of Indigenous Australians in untrue, hyper exaggerated or generalised upon the entire community to push his prejudiced agenda.

In this case, he was actually correct, hence the edit.

I'm just waiting for his next post trying to manufacture a correlation where none exists, but it's only a matter of time.

2-3 of them were inexperienced.... probably getting their bones from a simple check under supervision from a more senior.  Obviously, only armed with pistols, they were not prepared for any shootout.

Why were the offenders ready, armed and wearing militia style clothing?  That's your question(s).
