At least two police feared dead in execution-style shooting in Wieambilla, Queensland

At least two police officers are feared dead after an execution-style shooting in Queensland that wounded another officer and left a fourth missing.

Sources told The Australian the officers had gone to a property in Wieambilla, 300km northwest of Brisbane, about 4.40pm to make inquiries about a missing person.

The police were walking up the driveway of the property when they were “ambushed” with gun fire by two men in the house, sources said.

Two officers fell to the ground while a third escaped with a leg injury. A fourth officer is missing, sources said.

At least one of the gunmen came out of the house wearing camouflage clothing before executing the two officers on the ground, the sources said.

The gunmen then lit a fire to smoke out the missing officer, a source said.

Mad or desperate, these men are unlikely to be taken into custody.

A member of the public has been shot and police have come under fire at a rural property west of Brisbane.
Key points:

Multiple ambulances were called to the Wains Road property near Tara
A local resident is believed to have been shot
Neighbours described hearing what they believed to be a semi-automatic weapon

Earlier today multiple ambulances were called to the scene at Wains Road, Wieambilla, where neighbours reported hearing dozens of gun shots and witnessing cars on fire.

A local resident is believed to have been shot after going to investigate what appeared to be a car fire at a neighbouring property.

The man was shot as he walked up to the gate.

Another man who was with him was reported to have run to safety.

Residents described hearing what they believed to be a semi-automatic weapon being fired on the property, which had been unoccupied until the past week.

The property where the shooting took place is set among small acreage blocks and has a small wooden house.

Police said several crews were at the property.

A declaration zone has been issued for the area between Chinchilla Tara Road, Wieambilla Road, Bennetts School Road and Mary Street. Wains Road has been closed.

Residents have been told to stay indoors until further notice.

Western Downs Mayor Paul McVeigh said multiple emergency crews in Dalby have been called to help.

"There's been constant sirens out here, and it sounds like an absolute tragedy," he said.

He said it was a major concern for the Western Downs community.

A manhunt is underway for the alleged offenders,
who are believed to be heavily armed and to have taken police Glocks.

AAP reports they are also understood to have taken communication equipment
which allows them to track police locations during the search for them.

Queensland, Australia police shooting:
Cop killers taken out - three shot dead after two police officers,
civilian brutally executed

5 mins to read

Three people have been shot dead in a gunfight by special operations police following a manhunt for suspects in the execution-style murders of two police officers and a neighbour in Queensland.

The horrifying siege has left a total of six people dead, as Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spoke of “terrible scenes” and a “heartbreaking day”.

The dramatic shoot-out started after three people - including the two police officers in their 20s - were killed in a cold-blooded ambush at a man’s property in the western town of Darling Downs, about three hours west of Brisbane.
