It lessens the possibility of a 0-0 draw, let alone any draw as it has three different scoring methods: a 3-pointer, 2-pointer and a 1-pointer to mix things up a bit. Come to think of it, the AFL with its 6-pointers and 1-pointers (behind) and League & Union's variations lowers the possibility of a draw probably at a guess at 80%?
Less likelihood of a draw and creates new strategies for play.
Even Basketball has a variation of points 3, 2 & 1.

I think an Australia v USA in this format would make the game exceptionally exciting.

So many times when younger, I've seen Soccer teams just settle for a draw, especially when there is no need for a Penalty Shootout. Hence why I don't watch it much anymore - because the opinion is the same right around the world about Soccer: Boring because of the low scores and common draws.

If Soccer players around the world think they're so good to get of $100,000,000 in pays - then I'm sure they could play this format of scoring, eh?

It doesn't look like it will ever change.
Still - as is - it's the largest sport in the world.

It is rare at a soccer game for there to be more action on the field than on the other side of the fence.

True.

If only the usual nations keep making the semis and winning the cup. Might find that less nations will be willing to spend the money just to make up the numbers, let alone hosting the Cup - especially if the bored fans rip up your cities.

Ok. I'll tip Brazil and Argentina to progress for Samerica.
And France and Portugal to progress for Europe.

Sorry England.
...but if England do beat France - then I reckon they will win the World Cup like Lawrence of Arabia.

But I hope Portugal win.

Yes - I also think that Brazil and Argentina will win tonight.
I think France will be in the final.
Portugal have what it takes to win the World cup -
they play exciting - not predictable soccer.

I watched Croatia versus Brazil.
The last 30 minutes of extra time was exciting but
the first 90 minutes was boring with no goals.
Brazil was unlucky to lose.

It's crazy -
Brazil has a population of 214 million people while
Croatia has only 4 million people to call on for their team.
It doesn't make sense.
