I'll agree with you there. There is nothing beautiful about the Brazillians - just a bunch of egotistical brats.

I hope at the end of these games every news services that's promoted them lists the number of foreign construction workers who died in the erection of the facilities.

World Cup’s hottest fan Ivana Knoll’s skimpy outfits spark controversy with locals

The UK Foreign Office advised visitors to Qatar that women are expected to cover their shoulders and avoid wearing short skirts.

Women traveling in to the Arab nation are also banned from wearing any tight clothing, or flashing any cleavage.

WAGs were advised to wear a scarf around their necks in a bid to cover up their busts.

“Visitors (men as well as women) are expected to show respect for local culture by avoiding excessively revealing clothing in public,” the Qatar tourism authority warned before the World Cup.

Brazil are not known for being a very sporting nation, other than their soccer exploits. I think we can forgive them for being world leaders in that game.

You'll miss it when it's over.

We have the Rugby world cup next year.   Smiley

There is the women's FIFA world cup next year in Australia. Or is that too low-key for your tastes?

The only women's sport I've ever watched is the tennis finals.

What a terrible game - so boring - no score - nil nil
until a penalty shootout which Spain lost.

Soccer needs to change -
I suggest - expandable goals - that go from 24 feet wide to 26 feet wide
for the extra time of 30 minutes whenever there's a draw after the first 90 minutes.

There has to be a better way.

What a great game.
Portugal wins 6 to 1.

Portugal might win the world cup - that's how good they are!

Well I hope Portugal win.
They're really neat people and it would be their first.

Nothing more mundane as the same old winners.

I understand your point.
When I played Soccer in Mt Druitt as a young'un.
For an occassional friendly match about 5 times a year for the grades - if you scored 'outside' the box, it was worth 3 points and inside the box is 2 points and a Penalty in the Box was only worth 1 point.
It really did void the draws and bring in a variety of play, as going for a penalty didn't really come across as being an attractive strategy and scoring the 3 points really sorted the best Strikers out from the rest.

This, as far as I know - opens the game right up. As a team who just aims for Box penalties against a team that can score outside the Box, can fall behind regardless of how many 'dives' they take for a penalty.

I can't for the life of me, know or have heard of a better way to deal with the doldrums of a draw and a need for a penalty shoot-out rubbish.
I don't know if they still play these matches there?
Feels like half a century ago.

I played soccer for at least 2 seasons at school and
one season after I left school in adult competition.
I never heard of your scoring method for soccer.
It wouldn't help much in a nil all draw.
I don't know if larger goals would help either as
both sides might defend even more - to neutralise the effect?

It lessens the possibility of a 0-0 draw, let alone any draw as it has three different scoring methods: a 3-pointer, 2-pointer and a 1-pointer to mix things up a bit. Come to think of it, the AFL with its 6-pointers and 1-pointers (behind) and League & Union's variations lowers the possibility of a draw probably at a guess at 80%?
Less likelihood of a draw and creates new strategies for play.
Even Basketball has a variation of points 3, 2 & 1.

I think an Australia v USA in this format would make the game exceptionally exciting.

So many times when younger, I've seen Soccer teams just settle for a draw, especially when there is no need for a Penalty Shootout. Hence why I don't watch it much anymore - because the opinion is the same right around the world about Soccer: Boring because of the low scores and common draws.

If Soccer players around the world think they're so good to get of $100,000,000 in pays - then I'm sure they could play this format of scoring, eh?
