Lazy meals
Nov 21st, 2022 at 7:57pm

I'm a big fan of lazy 'scratch' meals.

Tonight.
2 eggs in a microwave poacher. A wee bit of water in the bottom.
Cut up 1/2 mushroom pretty finely, put 1/2 in each side of the poacher.
Added some mixed herbs and grated cheese. Mix it all in gently.
Nuke it, put them on Toast, pepper.

Really nice good quick cheap clean food

Lazy meals would be putting meat and veggies in the oven to roast.

If you do it right only one cooking dish to wash up.

Slow swimmers for sharks?  Fairly common these days.

Very good sprint

I probably lose the toast and chuck in some avocado

I have bacon eggs and avocado for breakfast almost religiously

And if we go to the pub for a meal
It's always the Caesar salad

Then I look at all the sloppy individuals eating their chicken parmigiana
I realise just how lost most people are

But it is not really about what you eat it is about how you exercise

If you go to YouTube and look up Andrew huberman all-cause mortality
And watch his clip
There is some excellent advice on remaining healthy well into your old age

And it is all about things like practising balancing on one foot with your eyes closed
Deadlifting
How quickly you can cover a mile
How high you can jump in the air
How long you can hold a deep squat for

He found that the positive effects of strength and aerobic exercise are the absolute best predictors barnone of maintaining good health

Forget the supplements
Forget the medications
Just exercise exercise exercise

Sometimes i dont have time to make a meal from scratch so i freeze stuff. Quick meals are ones i grab a handful of carrots and a handful of broccoli etc from the freezer. Once i had some of everything frozen its not that hard.

I love a parma, but that's a few times a year when I'm on hols and have probably been in the surf for 5 hours.

Other good health indicators are your vo2 max, grip strength, how long you can dead hang.

Here's how I started the day, assault bike as my Garmin only had elliptical

I do most of the cooking feeding 4 so there are few options for lazy for me, probably the only one is grabbing a BBQ chicken but I'd still make salad and a few fresh veggies

My go to is a camp oven roast.
Have one most Sundays atm.
Sit there, enjoy nature, kids playing, music in the background, hamock, Sunday arvo while your meal cooks slowly.
Never had a bad one yet.
Leftover for lunch next day as well.

Omelets are my next choice for lazy meal.

Yes Gordi I forgot to mention the dead hang
What an excellent exercise

When I have to do long trips in the country
I will often put the car on cruise control
And do some exercises in an isometric way
You can do your neck pelvis work on your grip strength try and pull steering wheel apart and try and squash the steering wheel together you can get quite a good work out in

I know Arnold used to talk about doing that on plane flights

In the car I have a set of silicone grip strength rings, i literally keep on on the indicator!

Also thanks to Huberman I've just learned about the soleus pushup. You can do 1000s of them while driving

The simplest meals without using too many cooking utensils…one pot soups or stews. Or a roast.
Best part is having some leftover for following day so it’s just a matter of heating it up only.
