Invariably you listen to your NRA buddies and their lies about how Australia has been "disarmed". The reality is and even the shooters downunder agree with this, there are more firearms in Australia, now, than there were in 1986 (when the new legislation covering firearms licensing was introduced). The difference is, you cannot have semi-automatic longarms, pump-action shotguns and you must belong to a shooting association or club. You need a license for a firearm and that includes pistols as well as longarms. So you are limited as to your choice of firearms, you are licensed and you are monitored against becoming a loon and killing mass numbers of your fellow Australians by your fellow shooters. The American idea of a "right" was never part of Australian society and should be removed from American society as well. You want to play with semi or fully-automatic weapons, join the army/navy/air force, comprehende? All I am proposing is that America catch up with the civilised world and introduce a similar licensing system. Roll Eyes

When all is said & done, we Americans will still have our Second Amendment, which affirms, defends, & protects our Right to Keep & Bear Arms for all legal use, specifically & most importantly, for Self-Defense....to use them against criminal activity, or against a tyrannical government....

The Decisions of the United States Supreme Court says otherwise Bwian, & their decision is not only final, their decisions can't be appealed, & their decisions have the full force of law.....the US Constitution.

They said The American People have an Individual Right to Keep & Bear Arms, unconnected with service in a militia...or to any so called '20th century definition' of what a militia might be, & of the may lawful purposes Americans can use firearms, Self-Defense is but one......See & read the United States Supreme Court's District of Columbia v. Heller Decision.
