Who cares about definitions?

The important thing is that these vaccines (and, yes - I will still call them that, thank you very much) were developed in a very short period of time and so far have saved millions of lives worldwide.

As for Australia, while 15,792 Covid deaths so far is still a terrible tragedy it would have been a lot worse without the vaccines - some say we could have had up to 50,000 deaths by now.

If it's not a vaccine then WTF is it ??? "It would have been a lot worse" is not an explanation of anything. All based on conjecture.

Here you go...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaccine

Quote:
A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious or malignant disease.

A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins, or one of its surface proteins. The agent stimulates the body's immune system to recognize the agent as a threat, destroy it, and to further recognize and destroy any of the microorganisms associated with that agent that it may encounter in the future.

Vaccines can be prophylactic (to prevent or ameliorate the effects of a future infection by a natural or "wild" pathogen), or therapeutic (to fight a disease that has already occurred, such as cancer). Some vaccines offer full sterilizing immunity, in which infection is prevented completely.

The COVID-19 vaccines are not "sterilizing vaccines" nor have they ever been described or advertised as such.

Excellent, Sprint.  Smiley

I have to take my elderly aunt to see her GP in a couple of hours and I'm going to ask about when we can get our 5th since my aunt's 4th was on May 31st and mine was July 14th.

But, from what I've heard that's up to ATAGI but I wish they'd hurry up with the approval.

Some things we know about covid.
People in terrible health don't do well.

My body fat is about 13%
My resting heart rate is 50
I can bench 100% my body weight

Some things we know about the covid vaccine
It does very little to stop you catching or spreading covid
It helps people in terrible health survive covid

I thoroughly recommend unhealthy people like Carl and Magda get as many boosters as possible.

Me, I'll be fine

Who said Carl is unhealthy?

Carl didn't. Carl is 65 and weighs about 90kg.

Carl also walks about 2km to the shops and back nearly every day of the week and on the odd occasion when I need to go to Perth City (about 6km from where I live) I usually walk that as well.

Your thoughts are as always quite reasoned and expressed without abuse.   Smiley Smiley

In the main I quite agree with you.
I have also read quite a few bona fide reports of very healthy people with have long term problems with covid.
Certainly, if you have preexisting bad conditions, chances are you may be adversely affected.

As you indicated, if you are young, healthy, good cardio pulmonary systems, should be ok.

As always, a pleasure to chat with you.

Thanks.
I have had 3 vaccinations, maybe 4. Lost count.
I have been unwell with every single vaccination.
Am getting more settled on getting a bivalent vaccination.

If I get unwell with vaccinations, I might be a hospital job with covid.

For me, this is serious stuff and I won't listen to fake news.

To me, “unhealthy people like Carl and Magda” is abuse. The grub knows nothing about Carl!

How fit you are is mostly irrelevant -
it's what's going on at the sub microscopic level
with your DNA and immune system that counts.
If you're unlucky you could still die from Covid -
no matter how healthy you are.

I have not had my third dose. Two doses by February last year. Nothing since. As a matter of fact, the media does not even seem to be talking about covid anymore.

Nope. It's mostly fatty boombahs who die of Covid.

It won't help Carl. Even the jabbed up super sports people are dropping like flies from blocked up arteries and heart failure. That's just what the sh.t does Sad
