F-111s were at the end of their service lives, Bobby.  They were no use to us and would be equally useless to who ever we sold/gifted them to. Tsk, tsk, tsk... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

You reckon
I'm sure many would have had 100s of hours of life left in them -
maybe even a few 1000 hours.
15 F-111G models were acquired in 1993 to extend the service life.

Iran has F-14 Tomcats from 1976 - still going.   Tsk, tsk, tsk... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Really?  Gee, what a shame they don't have any missiles to arm them with, hey?  They were so desperate to provide a missile that they adopted a SAM to arm them.  They lack within visual range missiles so they fly without them.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Dear Brian,
many blessings.

Many air forces around the world would have loved those F-111s that
we bulldozed into the ground:

Mach 2.5 Velocity

At standard sea level conditions, a velocity of Mach 2.5 is approximately 1,903 mph (3,063 km/h or 851 m/s).

How far is Iran from Israel border to border?
The distance between Iran and Israel is about 1,300km to 1,500km (800-930 miles).

Therefore an F-111 could fly all the way from Iran to Israel in 30 minutes.    Shocked
