Looking at the article this corrosion is in places that are inaccessible while the boat is not out of the water with various bits stripped out, however it should have been observed and dealt with in the normal docking maintenece schedule. I suspect it has been neglected previously and has now come to the point where it must be dealt with. However the ABC is catastrophising , as is their wont.

Not a fan of this, but it is necessary in the short term. As long as we pick the nationalities and individuals carefully it should work.

Commonwealth countries first and foremost, followed by allied countries like US, NATO nations, French. Basically not much is going to change, we have been doing this for over 40 years that I'm aware of, having served with English, Canadian and American soldiers at various times.
