"Jihad" as most Muslims use the term refers to struggle, usually religious and often personal, which is sometimes "Jihad" is used as a forename for some people. It represents their parent's struggle to conceive them.

Let therefore rephrase my question, "do all Muslims believe in violent Jihad, Soren?"

Probably not... The thing is having Jihad built in to your belief system is toxic. Struggle is relative and can be manipulated, and is, as we see every day. This is one of the reasons Islam is so...

It's certainly time for the UNGA to hasten Islam's enlightenment, since major Islamist states like Saudi and Iran can't/refuse to do it themselves.

Probably not... The thing is having Jihad built in to your belief system is toxic. Struggle is relative and can be manipulated, and is, as we see every day. This is one of the reasons Islam is so...

Christianity has similar concepts built into it's belief system. The Bible is littered with comments that refer to the infidel and their fate, before true Christian believers. It isn't acted upon but it exists, Setanta. Occasionally Christians act on their beliefs as well but those are rarely commented upon. Islam has to come out of the 15th century and see that violent Jihad is a thing of the past.
