Recent extinctions

https://www.thoughtco.com/recently-extinct-animals-1092157

10 recently extinct amphibians:

Quote:
Of all the animals alive on earth today, amphibians are the most endangered--and countless amphibian species have succumbed to disease, disruption of the food chain, and devastation of their natural habitats.

Pollution of streams hits amphibians hard as they have to live close to water and lay their eggs in water.

But big cats, birds etc go extinct too—encroachment onto their habitat:

Quote:
You might think lions, tigers and cheetahs would be better equipped to defend themselves against extinction than less dangerous animals--but you'd be dead wrong. The fact is that, for the last million years, big cats and human beings have a poor track record for coexistence, and it's always people who come out on top.

Worth reading the article.

Thanks for the link.  Interesting stuff.  One animal biologist
recently said he regarded the state of frogs as the "barometer"
of the planet's ecosystem.

If frogs are gone then every river, lake, pond, creek, drain etc is polluted.

I did post a thread about making a frog pond in your garden. Might be a good thing to do.
