No

This is it

The economy in the US was on it's last legs in 2008 and was really sick but the Fed gave it stimulus and the dead man walking got up and ran - but now this is the end

This is a depression - the collapse of the everything bubble

Its over

My share portfolio went up 1.2% today.

It would be if it actually happened, but I wouldn't recommend waiting for it. Especially if you want to actually be in the game rather than standing on the sideline offering advice on something you have never done yourself.

So many women are going to put out just to pay rent.
Rich are going to house homeless in their barns and use them as peasant labour.

The Golden Age of the Rich has begun!
Landlords are gonna breed with their concubines for rent.

Boris are you hoping that if you predict a crash on here once a month, you will get it right one day?

Since you started your predictions of a market crash, the ASX has actually been hitting record highs.

Yesterday I bought 2100xBHP for 46.30 at 1030am, then sold them for 46.50 at 11am.
Got back in for 46.37 at 11.30 with the intention of holding but something spooked me, and ended up dumping them at 3pm for 46.60.

Glad I did because BHP got nailed today.

I do hope Boris is right this time.
A global economic crash would put the cat among the pigeons and bring everything back down to earth.  Wink
I wouldn't call it a Great Depression 2.
More like a Great Inflation!
Plenty of employment everywhere - but the cost of everything is above and beyond most, so to speak.

It has ALWAYS been property. Sydney real estate in particular. Sydney houses (not units or villas or townhouses or duplexes). Stand alone houses on a block of land around 500 cm2 or greater in a quiet street in a decent suburb of Sydney (within 20 km of the CBD)...very close to the water and preferably with water and/or district views. That’s it.

When it comes to real estate ...the position and size of the land ie the dirt is where the value is to be found. And don’t our politicians know it! From our Labor Prime Minister down. Make no mistake ...this is where superannuation fortunes are found.

So the market can be crashing at the same time as it is reaching all time record highs?

Well it could be a good excuse for a World War.
Why delay the inevitable?

It's just the prelude to Roaring Twenties Mk 2

There were two downturns prior to Roaring Twenties Mk 1, in 1920 and 1923

These correspond with the 2020 downturn, and the downturn we are seeing now in 2023

Roaring Twenties Mk 2 starts later this year and into early 2024, after which, 4 or 5 years of strong investment will follow, then another downturn

Be prepared for that last downturn, about 2028-2029

Soon a Depression

Then a War

I jumped back into BHP yesterday.
Today will be interesting.  It could be carnage across the board or money may move from financial services to recourses.

Will the market reach more record highs in the middle of this "depression"?

Mugged a junkie in an alleyway earlier today.
I made $50 and tossed his phone and shoes three blocks away.
It's not much, but it felt really really good.

I’m a bit astonished that our govt says there will be 30,000 jobs as a result of these nuclear subs.
Where are 30,000 ppl coming from? A lot of businesses are understaffed …. Sign of the times…”position available, enquire within”

Are these 30,000 new workers all expertise with nuclear?

Anyway, I think Keating was astonished more about the whole deal!

Welcome to the Global Financial Crisis 2023

Those self funded retirees faced an earlier version of financial crisis and had to tighten purse strings with savings in bank that were getting sfa when interest was at .4% while the rest were galloping ahead borrowing and buying and living it up with historical low interest rates.
Now it’s doing an about face.
Interest rates are rising and some are doing better at 4% or more, on savings, while the others that had the enviable benefit of low 2% loans…. Now having to tighten their purse strings with each interest rate rise. Our redraw home loan account was always a bit high at 4.5% but now it’s 7%.
I’m not redrawing any money unless I really really have to!

Yeah.

I have some money of Mum’s to invest for me and my two sisters. CBA pays low rates on term deposits tho. But I will invest some today—only short term, be better rates down the track no doubt.

Speaking of investments… money in banks etc….. did most know…. Government not guaranteed for anything  over $250K, not insured against bank loss …. Per account holder…. eg: if 2 people share an account of $600,000 then each account holder is insured at $250K each ($500K total) and $100,00 not safe.
Hence it’s recommended (like the old adage about not keeping all your eggs in one basket) to spread your money across different banks.

It won't happen all at once. There is plenty of time to train the workers. Also, 'skill shortages' is a sham. Employers bleat about it so the government will keep the immigration taps open so they can underpay workers and have more people to sell things to and get into debt.

BHP down today, currently $46.30

I reckon BHP is headed (briefly) for about $43 but I'll buy a few at 44.5 or lower and if it hits $43 I'll go in hard.

And just for giggles I'll buy some BHP calls tomorrow in case I'm 100% wrong
