Leftists are either naive and comparatively harmless or virtually insane and most definitely harmful.
The Communist Manifesto animates the point.

The history of all thitherto existing society is the history of class struggles…The bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionising the instruments of production…the work of the proletarians has lost all individual character, and, consequently, all charm for the workman. He becomes an appendage of the machine…the theory of the communists may be summed up in a single sentence: Abolition of private property…You are horrified at our intending to do away with private property. But in your existing society, private property is already done away with for nine tenths of the population…Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists…The Communists are further reproached with the desiring to abolish countries and nationality…The working men have no country. We cannot take from them what they have not got.

There is lots more of this weird drivel. Leading to a supposed nirvana of no borders, no families, no rich industrialists, and no technological progress. As we now know, or should do, it leads to an equal dispensation of misery for all but the party’s privileged class.

But Lefties, being ignorant and/or insane, want it like that.
