Australia once had a healthy combination of Market capitalism mixed with solid social policy. The best civilisations seem to be a sensible mix, too much of either is always a problem.

Australia has drifted to far to the right over the last 4 decades or so we have lost a lot of our social protections and subject to fairly harsh workplace conditions and lost services and utilities.

Marxism was a ecanomic philosophy that functionaly died around 200 years ago and had never been put into practise. There is virtually no such thing as Marxism in the western world Except for Groucho Marxists like myself.

Did you know that the original Democratic-republican party became the modern democratic party. Not the old Democratic party and that the republican party started about 30 years later.

At first sight it is easy to think that the old Democratic-Republican party became the republican party when they became undemocratic but that isnt what happened.

Aparently the Republican party was laways undemocratic.

The only difference is if you want it all to go to the wealthy or for a very small amount to go into somewhat socially helpful areas and the rest to go to the wealthy. Remember that is is the wealthy corposations that pay for and own both political entities. Neither the left or right will bite the hand that feeds them.

In tax for instance you see the right give tax breaks exclusivly to the wealthy and the Left doing it more accross the board - some to the lower wage levels but a lot to the wealthy.

(my keyboard seems to be typing the wrong letters I don't think it is my fingers doing it - almost every post I am correcting. Probably missing some.) Hope my brain isn't doing a Trump.

Third world national liberation movements were very strongly Marxist, and not just in British colonies. Latin American liberation theology is the must mature expression of the use of Marxism in local, in the case of latin America Catholic, cultural frames.
Marxism is a method - dialectical and historical materialism -  and as such a method ot is eminently adaptable. And so it IS adapted. In politics, culture, arts, social analysis. As a method, it is everywhere.
