Former treasurer Peter Costello criticises the Labor government for plunging Australia into a trillion dollars of debt, describing the situation as “heartbreaking”.

It is true that very few Liberal Prime ministers have ever produced good ecanomic results. They tend to give away too much money to wealthy people and multi nationals and then the following Labor government has to balance the books.
