Several Homo variants lived then: Sapiens, Neanderthalis, Denisovans, Floresiensis (the hobbit people) and some Erectus and Luzonensis:

Australopithicus is not considered to be of the genus Homo but to be an ancestor of Homo species.

Bobby will be fascinated with homo variants.

But it just goes to show how genocide is in our genes.

Yeah, pretty clear Sapiens drove Neanderthals to extinction.

Not just the Neanderthals.  I bet the others variants were just as tasty.

We don’t know that much about the Denisovans.

No we don't, just a tooth or two I think.  However, they are not here and we are.  Changes in climate have not succeeded in wiping out humanioids, more likely they were raped, killed and eaten.  Lot's of Neanderthal bones had cut marks on them.

Why would we stop with just them?

Driving species to extinction is our specialty, we are getting better at it all the time.

I had a smile as I was typing “homo variants” thinking a particular troll, yes.  Smiley
