I have some in the car in case the day gets away from me and I can't get a swim. Cologne is for hairy wogs.

Back in the day, it was cunning to wear the older colognes like Old Spice, Menage, etc - easy to pick up a chick when you smell like their Daddy.

I pour a litre of my 'cocktail' of colognes over me and Aramis is my favourite ingredient. It creates a protective zone from all those over-powering female fragrances. It also prevents intrusions of other people's farts in elevators.

I even carry a small white bottle of Old Spice in my pocket to splash at people who stink, to keep their schmelly evil spirits away.

When he stayed at my home it was a week before I could rid 5ge bathroom of the stink.

I had Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet - random strangers come up to me asking to shine my shoes. It was Churchill's own, Blenheim Palace being his ancestral home.

Penhaligon's English Fern is my baseline.

Suskind's novel Perfume is an excellent imaginative introduction to the olfactory arts. Smell, touch, taste are powerfull but less often discussed than sight and sound. But they are elementary sensations.
